congratulations ducklings

All I can say is Oregon has a great team.  ASU had it's opportunities, and I don't think that can be argued by reasonable people.  They just didn't convert.  The fumble by Tyreice Thompson, was a little sad--he made a great play but didn't secure the ball--score a TD  there and things would have gotten interesting.  He's a great kid--a former walk on and engineering student--he's made several sparkling plays this season.

I give credit to Bellotti for outcoaching Dennis Erickson.  Opening the game Dixon and Williams shreaded the devils--totally unexpected.  I called Williams a stiff and he did disappear in the last three quarters.  But the damage was done.

To open the second half Bellotti made a great move puting  Crenshaw in the backfield with stewart--that was a killer.

The stats are just silly in this game--ASU was sacked 8 times for about 50 yards deducted from the rushing totals.  ASU gained about 550 yards, Carpenter averaged 10 yards per attempt riddling the ducks for 377 yards in the air.  Even with the sacks ASU outgained the ducks by 87 yards of total offense---+10 minutes in TOP.  I know these numbers don't tell the entire story (eg 8 sacks)but a team is not supposed to win when their defense gets schooled like this.

I can't say ASU layed an egg or anything--just saying it was our least efficient game this season.  I give credit to Oregon for that--cause that's the way they roll.   The scoreboard got unmanageable and that was that.  It should have been close but it wasn't.  Scoreboard--game over and congratulations Ducks.

Stupid Michigan-MSU game
I, for one, am really disappointed I didn't get to see the goal line stand on ASU's first drive.  That, more than Carpenter's final stats, typify the type of D we play.  Allow a team to drive on us only to stiffen up at the drop of a hat.  It marks the second time in two weeks that our D made key stuffs early in the game.  ESPN's re-airing the game later tonight and I'm hoping to catch it just so that I can actually watch said goal line stand along with Dixon's first two TDs.

BC-FSU was only on TV for the latter half of the 4th quarter thanks to USC-OSU but when I did watch, Ryan looked terrible.  About mediocre if you ignore the pick-six.

The quote of the day came during the Purdue-Penn State game when the announcer said, "He stopped on a dime and left nine cents change."

well thanks for that FWIW
I think the ducks won the game in the early going with great execution. After that pretty even.

Right now I'm wondering if ASU will drop like a rock in the rankings--which dosen't seem right.

I'd love to have another shot at you guys--not gonna happen this year--but the game in Tempe next season--already circled.

yeah no doubt
that stand was a big statement--and had a huge effect on the game.

I didn't care for those play calls much!

We were worried
I think ASU presented the biggest scare for the Ducks this season and they played as tough a game as anyone could play. I wasn't secure in this win until about 3 seconds left. Great game Sun Devils. You guys played tough and lived up to your billing. Good luck against the rest of your opponents.

Thanks, baal
hopefully we go to the NC game, and you guys can kick the crap out of some crummy Big Ten team in the Rose Bowl.
