cal uo
Disappointing loss to cal. The difference in the game was when we had a 3rd and 1 but then we were called for false start, then we missed the 29 yard field goal… then I think they marched down the field and scored a touchdown
Next week
Another big week the ducks play host to the Stanford. Stanford is killing the cougars. Assuming the Cardinal wins it will be a battle of two 4-2 teams in the Pac 10. It looks like are rose bowl hopes are gone but really did we expect a bcs bid this year.
Coming down the stretch we could fold it in like we have done in the past or we could fight for a solid finish and a holiday or sun bowl bid
Rest of Season…

Another thing to look at is stupid mistakes:
2 points from that snap.
1 point from the missed PAT.
7 points from the INT inside the 5.
There you have the 10 points we were down by.

Yep.
Sloppy game in sloppy weather. Our defense at times played well. It was going to come down to who made the biggest mistakes at the worst times. Oregon, unfortunately, won that battle. Too bad. Cal didn’t play a great game and we missed a great opportunity.
Two non-seniors really won me over today. T.J. Ward, a junior, played the way an Oregon rover needs to play in a big game…bad ass. Javes Lewis (#14) – only a redshirt freshman. He missed a couple opportunities for big interceptions, but he was in position sticking his nose in Cal’s business.

I think the botched punt was the game changer, it gave cal the ball inside the 10 after a stop following the missed field goal, it made a 3 point game a 10 point game, but how bout that hit by ward on the cal wide receiver

We absolutely need to find a passing game that has some sort of threat. The next 3 games are no cakewalk. Stanford could be tight, Arizona will be a huge challenge and I think OSU has some weaknesses (but I’m not sure we can take advantage of them). I keep telling myself that Masoli is only a sophmore and that Dennis didn’t turn it on until his senior year.
At least it will be exciting down the stretch and thank god we’re already bowl eligible. :)

I agree. This year we’ve struggled with the passing offense, and we aren’t playing very balanced. We have talented runners, but even that running game will be limited without balance.
As awesome as Dixon was senior year, and as talented of a runner he was – he was always primarily a passer. He knew how to stand in the pocket, and launch it down field.

Masoli can't throw touch passes
He’s got a strong arm, but he is too eager to run, and he can’t throw softballs when he has to. Remember the final TD last year against ASU (if not, go watch kabuman’s highlights). Dixon is able to float the ball over the top of the D to Drew Davis. None of the QB’s this year can do that

Happy feet...
Masoli’s biggest weakness is his impatience and tendency to backpedal out of an adequately steady pocket.

Most ducks fans don't know this:
Dennis Dixon never scored a rushing touchdown in high school.
I read that in an article that interviewed his high school coach back in the times when ducks fans were booing Dixon.
How is it spelled?
It's spelled S-h-u-V-3-0-0-0.

Most Duck fans do know that...
Sorry to steal your thunder but that was all over the place in his Senior year. You also may not have known that Brady Leaf was recruited as a scrambler into the Gary Crowton system.

That was indeed the difference in the game.
Our mental toughness is questionable at best, and the worst part is that the coaching staff (YET AGAIN) does not convey much trust in the players. Hey Bellotti, Kelly, Aliotti: These are the guys you recruited, and they wanted to play for you. USE THEM to their full capabilities or go do something elsewhere.

I wish they would show less confidence in Evenson personally but I haven’t been on his bandwagon since the civil war game two years ago

I wish they would give roper more of a shot cuz Masoli is more of a runner than a passer. cuz you need a passer 1st then a runner 2nd
