Beaking News: OMB 30 OSUMB 7

On a crisp Tuesday night at Autzen, the Oregon Marching Band was able to come through with a convincing 30-7 win over the Oregon State University Marching Band. Kyle "trumpetduck" Loescher wore Todd Doxey's # 29

Key plays from the game:

  • The first OMB drive was a crisp 4 play, 65 yard drive ending in a Porsch Anthony option run.  The key play on the drive was a 40 yard pass from Matt Takimoto  to Kyle Loescher.
  • OSUMB's first play from scrimmage was an interception by rover Jake Mason.
  • OMB took a 14-0 lead on a Matt Takimoto pass to Jeremiah Xiong on 4th and Goal.
  • After an OSUMB touchdown on a controversial 4th/5th down, the OMB got the points back on a pass from QB Porsch Anthony to Kyle Loescher.
  • After a red zone interception by OSU, the OMB got a safety to make the score 24-7.
  • The final points were scored on a Porsch Anthony pass to Jake Mason, making the score 30-7
  • The game was iced on an interception by Austin Fiske late in the second half.

Key stats:

  • QB/WR Matt Takimoto: 8-17 160 yards 1 TD 1 INT, 2 carries for 7 yards, 2 catches for 22 yards.
  • QB/WR Porsch Anthony: 12-24 195 yards 2 TD 1 INT, 5 carries for 45 yards 1 TD, 3 catches for 70 yards
  • TE/Sam LB Kyle Loescher: 5 catches for 60 yards 1 TD and 1 2-point conversion, 5 tackes, 4 TFL.
  • RB Chase Kersey: 16 carries for 103 yards, 5 catches for 60 yards
  • RB/WR/ROV Jake Mason: 3 carries for 8 yards, 3 catches for 65 yards 1 TD, 5 tackles 1 INT

Coach Mike Bandlotti said after the game, "We're happy with the outcome, though we need to cut down on our turnovers, especially in the red zone.  That really could have added to the scoring margin, which was the second smallest in history.  But it's something we can build on for next year, when we have to go to Corvallis and try for a six-peat."

Pictures hopefully coming, plus possibly video from the post-game press conference.

CONGRATS, GENTLEMEN

Way to steamroll the Beavs!

Seriously though, Takimoto (and trumpetduck, while I’m at it), part of the reason I enjoy reading AtQ is because of your posts. Your enthusiasm really shows through, and you obviously have a nice perspective on the on-field business as everything is right in front of you.

(BTW, I know a guy in the trumpet section named Truman who works for the Emerald. I’m tempted to let you all know who I am so we can compare notes/swap stories/whatever.)

Awww you know Truman!

now we can’t be friends! ;)

Really though, thanks for the support, we’re just two guys who really like Duck sports. The band is full of really intelligent Duck fans, it’s really refreshing.

I support Roger Kieschnick in his quest to becoming the best Kieschnick ever to play professional baseball.

Beaking news?

I know that you're thinking about making a Woodburn joke. Know that I will pummel you if you do.

I miss you, ATQ.

Nice win Band!

I think those passing stats solidify Anthony and Takimoto as about the 6th and 7th QBs on Oregon’s depth chart.

The ATQer formerly known as Seattle Quacker...oh yeah, I hate the wings.
