Chip Kelly
I was wondering if anyone else is worring about Chip Kelly being a very good prospect as a head coach somewhere else? I love his offence, If is so fun to watch when we have to players in place to make it work. What do you think about Oregon doing something similar to what Texas has done with there cordinator? I like Bellotti as a recruter, but he is only as good as the offencive cordinatior that he has. What do you think?

Cuse
is just awful. I would hope he would want to stay here and work with the guys we have coming back to make a run next year. I think that Oregon can win a national title within the next 5 years, pieces just have to fall in to place rather than everything shatter the way it did last year.

He has been offered the SDSU job. I don’t he takes that since it looks like Syracus is going to offer him in the next week.

I heard he just got offered a job by Obama
who’s creating a Secretary of College Football Playoffs position in his cabinet. And then he discovered a cure for cancer. CK, not BO.

I had the feeling based on comments...
…that this has been in the works for a bit of time…at least as long as the other job rumors.

Chip Kelly is going to get money offers that even Phil Knight can't afford
HA. Joke.
But seriously, he is going to get big offers.
If I were CK, I would wait until a real job opens up. I wouldn’t go after ’Cuse or UW— you are basically starting from scratch and by the time you get that program up and running he probably could have been HC at Oregon with a lot more money.
I honestly thought Clemson was a good fit for him, and was surprised he didn’t get looked at. Granted, he doesn’t have a ton of recruiting ties to the south, but those aren’t hard to come by. Just say “hey, you see how many yards I put up against the 13th best defense in the country?” Kids will come running. He’d be coaching in a BCS conference, a very winnable BCS conference, with a school that is #1 in a huge football state.
Schools I would keep my eye on if I were Oregon fans:
Auburn: solid fan base, huge football state, and rumors are Tuberville is on his way out, whether on his own terms or the schools’
LSU: really think LSU fans are going to let Les Miles have another season like he did this year? Look at how they treated a coach that won them a Nat’l Championship (Saban)
Cal: if Tedford up and decided that he has done all that he could at Cal and leaves, Chip could see this as a prime time program
Like I said, if I were Chip, I’d wait until I got an offer from an established program before leaving UO, just my opinion

I pretty much agree...
I don’t think Kelly is going anywhere this year. I think he has a lot he can gain by sticking around, and learning how to be a head coach from Bellotti. I think that Bellotti is a great head coach. Kelly is a great coordinator. Sometimes those don’t translate.

Syracuse? No way.
I just don’t see anything other than leverage as the reason for CK taking this interview. The Big East is a joke Syracuse is not the program that’s going to revive it.
Someone back me up here but isn’t there a BCS rule stating that if you’re conference champion (or highest ranked team) is out of the top-14 of the final BCS standings than you lose your status as a BCS conference? If Hawaii beats Cincinnati then we’ll be in year 1 of that trend.
CK is probably about a year out from getting real big time offers and with a good group of returners coming back it’s likely that even with a 9-4 season next year he would be in a position to grab a head coaching job with a well established program.
CK’s wife/girlfriend also works for Nike so there’s incentive to stay in the state provided a coach-in-waiting title is discussed and the money is right.

Rules...
Automatic Qualification
1. The top two teams in the final BCS Standings shall play in the National Championship Game.
2. The champions of the Atlantic Coast, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-10 and Southeastern conferences will have automatic berths in one of the participating bowls after the 2008 through 2013 regular seasons.
3. The champion of Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference or the Western Athletic Conference will earn an automatic berth in a BCS bowl game if either:
A. Such team is ranked in the top 12 of the final BCS Standings, or,
B. Such team is ranked in the top 16 of the final BCS Standings and its ranking in the final BCS Standings is higher than that of a champion of a conference that has an annual automatic berth in one of the BCS bowls.
No more than one such team from Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, and the Western Athletic Conference shall earn an automatic berth in any year. (Note: a second team may be eligible for at-large eligibility as noted below.) If two or more teams from those conferences satisfy the provisions for an automatic berth, then the team with the highest finish in the final BCS Standings will receive the automatic berth, and the remaining team or teams will be considered for at-large selection if it meets the criteria.

BCS Status
I read somewhere earlier in the year that the BCS Conference status is on some sort of multi-year scale. So, if the Big East is terrible for a few years and the Mountain West is good that whole time the Mountain West could become the BCS conference and the Big East could lose that status.

But the Rose Bowl would jump out of the BCS before they let the Big-10/Pac-10 matchup go.

After the two season’s CK has given us he deserves to be the highest paid cordinator in the country. I agree that he would be crazy to leave a team who has so much upside in the next few years with masoli really steping up and playing lights out. He has two qb’s to work with and we still have blount with crenshaws speed. I just dont know how you walk away from that.
