Bellotti as AD, Chip Kelly as HC
An anonymous source of mine just broke the news:
Mike Bellotti will be the new Athletic Director for the Ducks, while Chip Kelly is going to be named Head Coach of the Oregon football program.
I think this is great as I was (and this had been addressed in a recent fanpost) worried that Chip was going to be lured away to a head coaching position somewhere else.
It's unclear exactly when this will be officially declared, but expect an announcement in the near future.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of SB Nation or the Addicted To Quack Moderators. FanPost opinions are valued expressions of opinion by passionate and knowledgeable Oregon fans.

Does anyone know about the Kelly-Bellotti relationship? I mean, are they completely in love or are they sleeping in twin beds at this point. Separate bedrooms? Masoli alternates weekends between houses? What’s the deal?
Seriously though, as a Beav the only thing I know is that Bellotti has this reputation—manufactured or not—as a rather abrasive guy when not being microphone humped by Giansante. Pretty much a business-first-I-don’t-get-paid-to-make-friends kind of guy. Does anyone think Bellotti will meddle in Chip’s business as HC?
I’m trying to stir the pot in a constructive way here people so work with me.

Where'd you get the Bellotti-is-abrasive thing?
I can’t recall a single interview where he acted like, I dunno, Bill Parcells for example. He’s always seemed cordial with the press, if somewhat low key.
And if Bellotti knows enough to let his Offensive Coordinators alone—which he does—then he’ll have enough sense to let his Head Coach alone. Sure, there’s the possibility of him turning into Bill Walsh at Stanford, but his past history suggests the opposite.

He’s no Parcells, for sure. I worked at three large market (relative to the state of course) papers in Oregon and Washington and while I never covered PAC 10 sports, Bellotti was always known, even to beat writers he was familiar with, as cold… so I guess abrasive is a little harsh.
My apologies to you, grimc.
Don’t let Colleen hear of this though. She’s known to throw down.

I've heard Canzano talk about Bellotti as abrasive
when the team is losing, but great when the team is winning. Sorry I can’t find any audio links, but I’ve heard it on more than one occassion on the BFT

True. Coach of the year when they win, fire the loser if they lose on a game-by-game basis is a rough listen. If Bellotti had lost the Civil War, Canzano would have renewed calls for Bellotti’s head. If we lose our bowl game, watch for him to want the transition to CK immediately

We don’t really have an asshat but Jim Wilson bugs me sometimes. He manages to ruin great calls by Mike Parker (see the USC call from this year). Giansante is a disgrace and I can’t find a duck fan who would ever defend him.

He ruins every call. Mike Parker has such a classic radio voice and makes some really great emotional calls on big plays… during which you can count on that douche to make a whiny comment or two. His plea to “get off the field” IN THE MIDDLE of Parker’s call during this year’s SC game will forever haunt Beaver fans.

Jaycb
We both have them. Jaycb was rivaling CV as Butthol’s new favorite. I notice ol’ Jaycb324011 hasn’t said a damn thing since a couple days before the Civil War (11/24). It has really quited down progressively over the past few weeks, and hopefully all the people that joined up just to run their mouth about the CW have just about run out of steam. On the flip side, if people stick around and become productive, rational members then we will both benefit from it!
The thing about this year’s CW that sucked is that so much shit was stirred up leading up to it that I think a lot of people were just waiting to sign up just to throw it in a certain someone’s face. It annoyed me reading all the comments on BtD and AtQ from people that you just knew were going to do a hit and run and never be heard from again.
