Yeah, makes you think
I don’t think I’ve ever seen MB choke up like that about a bowl game. I wonder if the transition to CK is a lot sooner and more definite than we assume…
A few weeks ago, Bellotti did say he was going to take a while to think about what he’s going to do in the next year. This seemed to suggest that he was at least considering stepping down (or stepping up).

the only thing I would say is that Brett Favre had a teary goodbye too and ended up coming back. I think Bellotti’s future is tied to Kilkenny. He was emotional about the Civil War too. He does seem to wear his heart on his sleeve in these types of situations

MB
Coach Bellotti first put on his Oregon hat back in 1995…that was the same year that I started high school. I kind of feel like he had a hand in raising me as that time was a large part of making me who I am today.
Cue the music…
I bleed grellow. Maybe I should get that checked out.
Congratulations. This was a great win for both Oregon and the Pac-10. If both Oregon and Cal go into next year’s matchup undefeated, that will be one awesome game in Autzen. I look forward to it.

So would you Oregon fans rather have the Pac-10 go 5-0 in the bowl games, or have the Pac-10 go 4-1 and OSU lose?
www.californiagoldenblogs.com
Pac-10 5-0. That’s easy.

Can you ban him from AtQ? Hydro, you’re like CGB’s own Teddy Roosevelt. Walk softly and carry a big banhammer.

Prefer 5-0
but I won’t deny that being able to point at OSU for screwing things up doesn’t have it’s own attraction. It’s like the difference between beer-drunk and jagermeister-drunk. Ultimately, you might regret what’s happened, but both are enjoyable in their own way.

Rooting for the Beavs...
For me it’s a matter of circumstances. I don’t want UO to share the spotlight with OSU, so I don’t mind when they lose. But, they aren’t the Huskies, so I will cheer for them on occassion, as I do most Pac-10 teams depending on how a game does or does not impact Oregon or the Pac-10 race.
Today is one of those days. I hope the Beavers destroy Pitt.
The ATQer formerly known as Seattle Quacker...oh yeah, I hate the wings.
Todd Doxey, hope you’re having fun up there!
Thanks for the commitment, and being a part of our program.

Nick Alliotti
I voted for Nick Alliotti. For all the grief the guy has taken, he called a helluva game. The times we had break downs were player related, not scheme related. The defense tightened after the 1st quarter and really stepped up. His blitz call at the end of the game did a LOT to seal the victory for us

Way to rep the Pac 10 by playing a physical, bruising game.

Masoli
I thought he shouldered the load in the 2nd half and changed the game. Aliotti definitely deserves credit for his guys’ performance in the last 3 quarters.
Congrats Ducks - excellent game!
Nice job by the defense in the second half – Alliotti got my vote. Great season…

Great Game
That last TD run by Blount was seriously awesome.
I enjoyed watching the Jeremiah Masoli Show!
Thanks for making this a thread…I already had my chance on the soapbox this week! :) A great performance in a truely great game. It was not really the shootout that everyone thought, but entertaining nonetheless. Great performances from both teams. I am eagerly awaiting to download the torrent!! (hint, hint…) I think that we have a decent chance at cracking the top 12 in the rankings.
All of the boys played really hard. I see the future is good with Masoli. I am sad that we have only one more year of Blount, and lose the great players in JJ, Scott, Reed, Chung and dare I say it J-Will. I hope that all of the pundits who downplayed the Ducks in this game saw the error of their ways. I think this game will do a lot for recruiting.
The Defense hit VERY hard, much like the Cal game. (See: Ward, TJ versus Robinson, Zac) Despite allowing 500 yards, 31 points, letting Dez Bryant run wild, (with injury no less) and Zac Robinson standing tall (until late in the 4th) after beating him up continually, it was still a great showing from the D. I would like to make Allioti runner up for MVP. Good work making adjustments.
As for the game itself, I watched the entire 2nd half while working out at the gym. Let me tell you, nervous energy does wonders for a workout. I was so amped up, I cheered audibly during J-Will and Blount’s TD! Oh and the gym is in Auburn Washington!. I didn’t care!
Cheers! and…
GO DUCKS!!
May we hand you your taints on a silver platter...
adder...
to the Masoli point…He had few great carries and ran over a couple of DBs (lead with his shoulder and everything) and lead some of the blocking for JJ’s TD run. Good show old (young) man!!
May we hand you your taints on a silver platter...

It has to be Masoli
What a season for a kid who is practically a freshman. What a way to step into St. Dixon’s nikes.
That said, a lot of our guys stepped up hugely and when they needed to. That it occured against a quality opponent that played with a lot of heart makes the victory sweeter.

Pac 10 4-1. no brainer
….that was a serious question? Let me see if I have this straight: the ducks go to corvallis, trounce their instate rival ( seems to be a hard concept for some to grasp,
R-I-V-A-L) in a game they were not favored in, deny oregon st. the pac 10 title, AND,
a trip to the rose bowl, their 1st in 44 years. Then the ducks come out in the holiday
bowl, beat a tough okla. st. team. For me, a double bonus if Pitt wins
1. beavs finish out of the post season top 25
2. none of this , “we won our bowl game, too” to put up with all off-season
At this point, what does Oregon State losing do you any good?
So what if we can say “we won our bowl game too” are you so insecure to say “694”?
You should be rooting for OSU— it makes your win over us look that much better
I’m all about hating R-I-V-A-L-S, but a 5-0 Pac10 bowl season does so much good for everybody involved
I support Takimoto in his effort to support Roger Kieschnick in his quest to becoming the best Kieschnick ever to play professional baseball.

I'm not about hating rivals.
Just beating them. Except the Huskies. I’m all about hating the Huskies.
I’m still beaming from last night’s win. 5-0 Pac-10 would be some extra sweet icing on the cake. That, and I have many friends who are Beavs. I would like them to enjoy their game the same way I did the Holiday Bowl.
The ATQer formerly known as Seattle Quacker...oh yeah, I hate the wings.
I am pulling for the Beavs to win. To lose the sun bowl is just a crying shame for the season they had. The Pac-10 has a real shot at going 5-0 in bowl games and answering those critics from the beginning of the year. We already have a 65-38 win to hang our hat on. It does no good for us for them to lose.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't care about the Beavs bowl...
…but next year is looking good for us, and it is in our interest to have the Pac-10-went-5-and-0-in-bowl-games story out there to influence the early polls.
Besides, the way we beat them this year, OSU fan will not talk much football in mixed company for awhile.
Exactly
After tonight’s showing against one of the better Big 12 teams, you should be hoping OSU lays the wood to a top 20 team tomorrow. That puts UO in, at the very least, the top 15 pre-season next year, especially with Masoli and Blount returning

yep, at this point, the more wins, the better for everyone…although if you listen to Old Man Jtlight, he will tell you that bowl games don’t matter, pre-season rankings don’t matter and the like. He once told me to get off his lawn! True Story!

As much as I do agree that they don't matter
I think they matter very much.
Put it this way…
Oregon wins this game, they are now preseason top 15 next year
Oregon loses, they MIGHT be preseason top 25

4-1
As of this writing, OSU is up 3- zip with less than 2 minutes to go. As for the Rose Bowl…
We are….Penn State!!!

One person I forgot to mention...
Jaison Williams. Again, for all the crap he has gotten about dropping passes, here is the ultimate team guy. He became an outstanding blocker, was a leader in the locker room and did all the right things in the community that one should do. Wide Receivers can fall into the trap of becoming a “me” guy all too easily. Even Dez Bryant was profiled tonight by the announcers as saying that he wanted the ball more. Jaison Williams? Never. Always professional, went about his business.
Tonights line? Not extremely impressive but each catch was crucial. 3 catches, 52 yards and a touchdown…a very important touchdown.
May not be the game MVP but worth noting how he performed
--Dominic

He did drop a few passes in the 1st half
That could have ended up in UO first downs rather then punts

by The VD Special on Dec 30, 2008 11:26 PM PST up reply actions
yeah, I thought about that some but I think of that more on Masoli than the receivers. Lots of them were dropping balls in the first half, mainly because they were behind them, way too high, or just not having the right touch. His deep passes in the first half, although caught, were underthrown a bit and the receivers made great plays. There were a couple drops that were definitely receiver only but Masoli calmed down a LOT after halftime and you can tell in how well the balls were thrown
--Dominic
Autzen Stadium is where great teams go to die." - J. Brady McCullough, The Michigan Daily.
He went out on a good note.
Found the end zone, made a tough catch at a crucial point in the game. All things considered, this was the perfect close to his career…made errors early on and redeemed himself with the game on the line.
I wish J Will the best future possible. Maybe there’s an NFL coach out there somewhere who can help him overcome the drops. He seems to be a class act and the NFL needs more of those.
The ATQer formerly known as Seattle Quacker...oh yeah, I hate the wings.
Block
When you watch the reply of JJ’s touchdown, watch the block J-Will does at about the 20 yard line. He lays the defender OUT.

I voted "Other"
I would say the defense was the MVP. There were some big hits last night, and the Cowboys slowed way down when Zac and Dez were shook up. As an added bonus, the Ducks stuffed that alleged All-American tailback time and again.
Game balls all around!
p.s. I may have had too much to drink last night. Nearly lost my breakfast on the Blue Line on the way to the office.
So tonight, we’ve got some Beaver buddies to root on, and then the Rose Bowl.
Basketball Ball season going now.
We’ve got football recruiting day in a couple months.
And Baseball starting in February.
And no more duck football until the spring game.

GO BEAVS
So far the PAC 10 has beaten a MWC team, an ACC team, and a Big 12 team. If OS beats Pitt and USC wins we’ll run the table. I just wish that some PAC 10 team would have gotten to play an SEC team. It makes the Ducks season look that much stronger if all the PAC 10 teams win, IMO.
