Open Thread: Basketball Civil War

This year's OSU team may be the worst team in the history of the Pac-10. Other than Marcel Jones, there is not a Pac-10 caliber player anywhere on the roster. The great thing about college sports is that a big win in a rivalry game can, at least temporarily make up for a lot of things gone wrong in a season. The bad news is the flipside; if we lose this game, the season has gone from disappointment to nuclear disaster. That's not gonna happen today.

Exterminate the barkrodents!

On a flukish play to end the game, Tajuan throws up a a very stupid shot, and Beavs come out with first Pac-10 win this year.

Call me optimistic...

but this is still a dangerous team if they can get into a rhythm. I thought we had it after the UA, Stanford, and Cal game, but we've got to learn how to finish games. That is what is killing this team. They have what 3 or 4 games that have come down to the end? A win tonight, is stepping stone to a better 2nd Half. Last year they went threw a funk, and towards the end got on a roll, hopefully the same this year.

first time at the pit

So we made it out to the game after all. There were tickets at the box office, but unfortunately we were behind the basket up in the rafters. One thing's for certain, though: Mac Court is a throwback to the gyms of old. What a neat environment! So sad it's not much longer for this world. That mixture of scents tied with the well-worn bleacher benches definitely made the experience whole.

Again, neat stuff, y'all.

Schaefer

He's a center for the Ducks. Doesn't get a lot of pt. I noticed he had a few supporters with similar signs last time I was at the Pit (last pre-season). I think one of them was his girlfriend, maybe?
