EA NCAA '09 - Fixing the Roster

In the latest version of NCAA '09, the Ducks get no love. Especially with the roster. The good news is that in this version, you can actually upload, and download rosters from other people - and I am working on fixing the roster.

I should also let you guys know I got the roster names filled out too. My XBox Live account is: jshufelt

First, we'll start with the QBs, specifically Costa. Obviously his speed is way down, and probably his awareness too. I searched online for his 40-yard dash time, and I've seen everywhere from 4.6 to 4.83. By comparison, Tebow has a 40-yard dash time of 4.71, and the game rates him at 84. His short shuttle is 4.56, and the game rates Tebow at 84.

How is his speed 65, and his injury 82?

it's pretty far off...

I know they also had the rosters set a while ago. Cody Kempt was on the roster, Justin Roper was not, and Chris Harper was a RB. I have all that fixed on my roster on the 360. I highly suggest everyone that has the 360 version, upload the roster I have with the new EA Locker in the game.

I’m willing to take suggestions for changes on their ratings. I’d like to have an accurate roster for all the duck fans out there (or any fan in general).

If it helps at all, Madden has Dixon at 65 or something too.

I’m thinking Costa’s speed should be at 83 or so, with his acc being at 85.

old old rosters

the rosters are all based off last year, and made in the late spring. apparently you cant run as fast on a torn ACL as you can on a healthy one. Who knew?

Hehe...

Yah, but I doubt they took that stuff in to account. They probably didn’t send some scout to watch Costa run with a cast on in mid-january, and decided “Ummm… 65 sounds good.”

A lot of other players I’ve looked up, have some pretty messed up ratings. Especially dual-threat QBs. The Oregon team is just plagued with errors.

I agree that we got the shaft in the QB. Kempt is the starter? Roper does not exist? Harper plays RB, understandable i guess. and Costa is bad, until you make him better! I made him a 86 speed and upped his agility a bit. And where is Josh Syria???

I got something off that, but the player ratings are pretty whack. I’ve moved over Harper to QB, upped some of his and Thomas’ “ATH” ratings. I replaced Kempt completely with Roper.

What I want to do, is not just name every player, but I want to bring the entire Oregon roster into line, and make a definitive and accurate Oregon roster – especially since it’s pretty messed up.

ea rosters

i used that one cause i like all the names to be there. i have spent to much time getting worked by my roommate to look into the playing ratings for different teams. But when I have more time I’m going to do little things to the ducks like make Boyd a lighter shade and what not. And create Syria, i dont understand that one.

I’m not sure if you see what I’m trying to do. I have no problem with making those changes.
I’m volunteering my time to make a definitive roster for Oregon. This isn’t a earosters com vs. mine – They have a great one, but their ratings are screwed up, which earosters doesn’t fix, and I’m trying to get input from the blogosphere to fix it. I checked out the roster, and we can make 2 more players.

I noticed both Josh Syria and Jeremiah Masoli were off the roster. I haven’t gone through with a fine-tooth comb yet.

ducks roster

it would be great to get a really accurate ducks roster made by real fans who actually know the team.
i figure JJ should be a little better than crenshaw and Blount. I also changed Derrik Jones into Holland and fixed his hight.

find any more adjustments that are needed?

I forgot about the Derrick Jones situation.

I’ve been at work, and probably won’t be able to make any adjustments, or notice anything new until late tonight.

One thing I don’t want to do, is have the roster be infected with homer attitude. It needs to be fair. Accurate, but fair. I don’t want give Jaison Williams a Trindon Holliday like speed.

i have costa with 86 speed right now and that is to much. its hard to adjust the roster without getting too biased and making the ducks awesome, well more awesome then they all ready are.

I need to update my system at some point. And I have to switch the lineups to start Clemens ahead of Fife.

wii version

So i rented this this game for the wii and let me say it is awful. Autzen doesn’t even look like Autzen, which is a real let down. Second, Costa is not even in the game and Roper is the starter. Third there is no home field advantage like there is in previous versions. Fourth, the game is very childish by using their new “all-play” mode. Fifth, EA maybe spent 5 minutes on graphics/ camera so it looks awful. Sixth, the camera view and graphics reminds me NFL Blitz, but without all the fun. Finally, don’t buy this game for the wii, unless you have little children because that is who EA clearly made it for.

If Madden is this bad, I am going to sell my wii and buy and xbox 360 cause Madden and NCAA are freaking amazing on it.

Hmm...

Probably isn’t Roper (QB #11) starting – that would probably be Cody Kempt (QB #12). He was the “starter” on the xbox version, with Thomas as backup, and Costa in third.

is like Dennis Dixon Jr. in this game. Him and Blount are conjuring up memories of NCAA ‘08 with DD and Snoop, although for some reason Blount is listed as a Redshirt Junior?

Pretty sure I fixed that...

He should be a normal Sophomore.

I made a handful of changes this weekend.

I adjusted JJ a bit, that would not only be a closer match to his skill, but also bring his overall above Crenshaw ans Blount.
Josh Syria and Jeremiah Masoli are also on the latest Roster.

Go into the game...

Under the menu:

Online> EA Locker> Download Roster > (live accoutn name) jshufelt

xbox 360

So i bought an used 360 to play this game and some others. Is it just me or is Oregon’s defense not very good at all. I feel like the ESPN Wast Coast bias against the Pac-10 also is included in this game. I was playing someone online and they were West Virginia and I swear almost every single one of his players were faster than mine. Has anyone else noticed this?
