new video screen
We are in the process of updating to a new video screen at Autzen. Rob Mosely also has an update about the size and dimensions here. Apparently, OSU has been saying their scoreboard is the biggest in the Pac-10 and this screen is supposed to surpass theirs by a lot.
Is the new screen really necessary? I know the audio is not very clear compared to other stadiums. I personally think the new screen will look sick for the pregame video, but other than that I don't really look at the screen very often (maybe once or twice during a game) to see a replay.

This is going to be awesome!
I think it is going to be a lot of fun. The fact that we are doing it to one up OS makes it all the better.
Cant wait to bask in it’s glory!
Ducks Go!
I think that this will be sweet
The screen will be very large, and will be great for replays. I didn’t look at it that much either, but many times, for replays, from the far side of the stadium, you couldn’t see much either, so it wasn’t that helpful.
From what it says, adds will be shown on the sides of the screen during the live action, but replays will be full for the entire scoreboard, which will be awesome.
Also, it sounds like this was necessary for the screen to work at all. And it’s at 1/2 the price of the old screen, so that’s fun as well.
If this were clearly breaking the bank, then that would be hard to justify, but I doubt we are, so I’m pretty excited about this (though I probably won’t see it for some time).

I was reading all the stuff on Moseley's blog yesterday
If I recall correctly, ten years was the expected shelf life for the old screen. They had hoped to get a couple more years out of it, but parts were becoming hard to find. So, when they signed the ad deal with IMG, they used their signing bonus on the new screen, rather than trying to stretch the old one out another year.
