I need some local advice.
This post is going out to the locals i.e. those who live in Eugene, Portland and surrounding areas. I am coming out for the BSU game with two other friends and I need some info on hotels. I have heard that the Bronco faithful travel well. I need to find us a hotel in or around Eugene(Springfield, Santa Clara) that isn't gonna cost me an arm and leg. We would like to keep it to $75 a night MAX.
Please if anyone can make any suggestions for a specific hotel or a decent place that might fall in those price parameters and locales I would be greatly appreciative.

75 a night max?
That’s a tough one dude.
I guess the Pheonix Inn on Franklin is a pretty nice chain-hotel within walking distance of Autzen, but I’m not sure what its rates are.
Santa Clara doesn’t have hotels. It’s a residential subdivision wasteland and no more. Springfield may have some good deals on places in the downtown area, give or take a few roaches.
Sorry if this wasn’t much help.

Springfield
Springfield has a couple decent hotels in the Gateway area, and you can shuttle from gateway to the game

Motel 6
They aren’t fancy. But they’re nice enough. Not at all dumpy, and clean and comfortable. One at Glenwood and one at Gateway (N. Springfield).

I think there's also a fairly new Hampton Inn on W. 11th in West Eugene
don’t know how their prices are.

Thanks for all the help
I think we found a place called Value Inn in Eugene. Good price, nice pics of the rooms. Thanks for the suggestions though, being across the country makes it hard to come across real info.
MIcDuck your post brought up other questions I can tap from you locals. Where are some good places to eat/drink good beer. We come in late Fri night and probaby are looking for a nice chill place to have a few local beer offerings before bed time. And Sat after the game we need a good place to eat and that might be within walking distance of a good bar or 2. We are 30 and married/dating so there is no need to look for college girls, and I hate fighting to get to the bar for a drink. I would rather frequent a dive than ‘the’ place that everybody goes after the game. I have heard of Track Town PIzza, is that place any good? Something along those lines.
Once agian any sggestions would be greatly appreciated.
GO DUCKS!!!!
Track Town is great pizza
Don’t go to Rennie’s/Taylors. Those are the college bars and will be packed on Saturday night. The Cooler, near Autzen, is a good bar. I’m not familiar with your hotel, so don’t know where it is.

Woahhhh I'm sorry
I totally thought I was talking to Tanner (aka hazmat.) So I didn’t really give more specific choices.
Sorry about that. Good you did find a place though. Have a fun trip.

Tailgating invite
Hey DuckinNC, I am the unofficial host of our gameday tailgaters. We have about 40-45 people every game that parks and tailgates together. If you would like to stop by, you are cordially invited to. We usually start arriving about 4-5 hours before kickoff. We park close to the stadium. If you are inetrested I can give you better directions.
Are you the group standing in a circle chugging and predicting?

thanks for the invite...
I will get in touch with the other 2 out of towners and see what they think. We didn’t have anything planned before the game since it is such an early kickoff time. So that means you get started at 7-8 o’clock in the morn? Hard core, don’t know if we will be there that early(will be experiencing the Eugene nite life Fri when we get in) but give me directions and we will do our best to stop by say hi and talk some Duck football.
GO DUCKS!!!!
Like Dave said, Taylors and Rennies are the college bars. I don’t think the students will be back yet, but usually you’ll be shoulder to shoulder fighting for a beer. They are great places, but maybe not what you are looking for. The Cooler is great the night before the game. Mostly mid 20’s early 30’s in there just hanging out getting excited for the game. Its great on gamedays as well. Walking distance to stadium . They block off the parking lot and set up tables outside where they serve beer and food, so there us usually plenty of room.
Local Beer
Try Mcmenamins (spelling?) on 19th st. They are pretty good. The service is not great but the beers are pretty good. Also steelhead brewery in downtown eugene, or high street bar and grill. All have decent food and a fair amount of local beers on tap. They are also not the typical college bars as they are a little way from campus. Google them for the addresses. Hope this helps some.
McMenamins
You can just call it 19th, as it is on E 19th and Agate, right by Hayward. That’s a really nice neighborhood of Eugene, the Agate-University area.
They’re great for beers, 19th has good but not great service. We also know the owner of High Street B&G, so if he comes out, his name is Doug and you can say you’ve been recommended by a certain family ;)

what would you know about ordering beer?
