This makes me wish I wasn't a Duck. Shame on us.

We average 50 arrests per game at Autzen, and there have been single games with more than 150 arrested.  This is a huge problem.

Jesus, our fans are just disgusting:

"In a night that Eugene police described as “busy,” officers ejected 60 spectators and made several arrests during the Ducks home game opener Saturday at Autzen Stadium.

Post game traffic was also snarled when an intoxicated driver crashed into a telephone pole on Coburg Road near Harlow Road, causing a major power outage in the area. The driver, Elizabeth Yural Sholes, 30, suffered minor injuries and was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Repair crews temporarily secured power lines to open Coburg Road, and made repairs after post-game traffic subsided, police said.

Eugene police, Oregon State Police and Springfield police arrested a total of six drivers on DUII charges after the game.

Police said 44 of the ejections from the game were alcohol related, seven involved disorderly conduct and the rest were for various reasons, including trespass and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana."

That's from the Register Guard, but I doubt you'll find it on Rob's blog.

I know we have hippies and all the meth you could ever want in Eugene, but why don't people take a little pride?

Shame. Shame. Shame.

Sadly

this happens at most stadiums when you get 60k people in one place, and the fact that it was a night game makes it worse, as people have had way too much to drink by the time night games roll around.

I’m not sure what the process for people who are ejected from the game is, but I’d hope that it would become a season long suspension. We simply cannot tolerate idiots who cannot control their alcohol.

This makes me wish I wasn’t a Duck. Shame on us.

Why would you care?

Yah, it sucks, but you can’t paint every fan with this color. That’s like me saying ever beaver likes to steel gay sheep.
Nobody here is going to agree with this, but this sort of thing is common for a lot of other schools. Oregon has stupid fans, but no school is perfect. Still, I would hope though that the school takes some measures or actions, but I would have no remorse towards the university if they didn’t take any action.

Go Duckies!

WHY would I care??

How about because I don’t you to die on the way home.

I don’t want my family to die on the way home.

This is crazy. There should be a lot more awareness about this.

I would HOPE you'd be responsible then...

Nobody here is endorsing or justifying drinking and driving. But there is nothing I can do about it.

By the way – thank GOD that they caught some of the guys with the DUII.

Go Duckies!

Where does it say they were Duck fans?

/shrug

Idiots are idiots. And 50-150 arrests are what percentage of 60,000?

Why are you guys justifying this shit?

There should be more attention paid to this by everyone. It should be obvious who can’t drive.

Everyone should be on the lookout for this shit and put a stop to it. 1 DUI is shameful, let alone 3 times as many as Luke Bellotti’s career statistics.

Really Chris, this is how you spend your free time?

Time to get a life buddy.

Also, if Autzen "averages 50 arrests per game," sounds like progress is being made! As, according to your nice quote, only several were made last night. I hate to break it to you, but ejections and arrests are different things.

As far as DUI goes…it should never happen, and it is an embarrassment to all fans.

Every college football team has alcohol related fan problems

Why are you ripping on players in your comments if your topic was about stopping drinking and driving?

Pretty sure someone named “Superiority Duck” cough bullshit cough..isn’t really a duck fan and is a little upset about our blowout win

I got taken out of this game, my first time ever

I should never have gotten that bad, but it was a mistake. I was going to eat at a tailgater but was being rushed by my friend to get to the stadium. Because I hadn’t eaten since 10:30 the alcohol we had at the game hit me way hard! I skipped the drunk stage and went straight to blacked out, and was sitting in my seat and finally asked a guard for help out during the game.

I should NEVER have gotten that bad and am embarassed by how I acted, but I was not a danger to anyone (Im not an angry drunk or anything) didnt puke on anyone and had my friend who was not drunk who took care of me. It was a mistake I regret! and I will never get that bad again, but should I be suspended for the whole season?! I hope not! Now if this happens multiple times and becomes a habit for one person or if they are violent during a game (I have witnessed and broken up a good amount of fights in my 3 years at games) then action should be taken!

And drinking and driving is a whole different story, it should never happen! Me and my friends walk to the stadium, if you have to drive you dont drink! that easy! and it does scare me people are so stupid and still continue to do this. I pray that one of these actions would never reach a fatal stage!

Now if you want something to really complain about its the student ticket system and how i get on 5 minutes after I am allowed to get tickets for the Utah State game and they are all sold out already! only one section for students!? come one now, thats just rediculous!

Power Outage

I live near the intersection of Coburg and Harlow road and a drunk driver hit a power pole near that, knocking out power for blocks. It took about 10 seconds for the power to come back. It was right during a long pass for the score. The other irritating part? I didn’t have a UPS guarding my computer and radio that were set to record the audio. I lost all of the audio from the pre-game show up through that point in the game.

Very frustrating to have a house full of people watching the game and have the power go out during an awesome play, let alone screw up my recording of it.

Don’t Drink and Drive…..EVER

Ashamed to be a Duck?

Because some drunken belligerent gits got tossed? The DUIs are dangerous as always, but the fact is they happen a lot in regular life, and at a college football game, people will get tossed. I’d like to see the numbers on most stadiums’ average ejections, I’m sure this is not outstanding at all.

It’s college football, other people, and as long as you’re not the one getting tossed out of the stadium, what’s with the sand in your vagina?

I was on the Fiesta Bowl and Holiday Bowl teams.

Was it the same things going on in the stands and after the games when I played? I don’t know. It seemed different from the field back then. It was real fans. E eryone was just happy and loud adn glad to be a Duck. Now it’s just an excuse to drink and I’m sensitive to these things and bringing my family to the games.

I’m glad we beat the pound puppies, they were obnoxious back when I was playing. Beating them in 2000 was the best. Now there just a joke.

Arrests are a part of college football

It’s the passion that makes college football the greatest sport in this country. Mix in a little alcohol, and you’re bound to have some words said back and forth and then the natural fist-a-cuffs to follow. Is it something to be proud of? Absolutely not. Is it something to be ashamed of? Absolutely not.

As for the kid who said he blacked out because he didn’t eat a hot dog, man you are a fucking lightweight lol. It takes more then a hot dog to keep me from blacking out if I drink so much to get to that stage.
