Sammie Parker
The Seattle Post Intelligencer reports that the Seahawks added WR Sammie Parker to their squad. This should be a great opportunity for Sammie, as the Seahawks WR group has been struggling with injuries. Hopefully, Hassleback will get the ball to him, and utilize his speed. This guy was siiiiick for the ducks, so I'm wishing him all the best!! Here is the link to the article, but I saw it on ESPN during lunch.

Back to the practice squad with him
Well after he had a few drops Sunday, Kent’s a very raw player but then we always knew that…

Samie seems like a good idea...
until you consider the offense he was just signed into. Samie’s greatest skill is and was pure, straight-line speed which is one of the most under-utilized skills in the WCO. Add in that Hasselbeck’s arm is less than laser-like and it’s hard to image Samie doing much in Seattle. Hell, he was cut in the pre-season by Denver because they didn’t think he fit in their version of the WCO. And then there are his iffy set of hands. Overall I don’t really seem him making much of a dent. Maybe he gets lucky on a busted deep coverage and scores a bomb or two.
What the Seahawks badly needed was a return man and I don’t remember Parker ever returning in college. I remembered Phinisee taking punts back then and can’t recall who was taking kicks. Anyone have any recollection of him ever taking kicks?
Were Jordan Kent and Samie at all close while they were at Oregon? It’s really the only reason I can see for Seattle picking Samie up since he doesn’t fit the offense and doesn’t return punts/kicks. I know that in the offseason someone offered Kent a contract and he turned it down to remain with the Seahawks. Employing an old college friend could go a long way in keeping him around. Even that’s a stretch though, given how badly off the Seahawks WR corps is for the next couple weeks.

On the practice squad
They waived him figuring that no one else in the NFL could afford a developmental prospect on their active roster, which was correct as he cleared and was signed to the practice squad today. So he’ll still be around the team. I’m not sure how much choice an NFL player has if they want to be on one team’s practice squad but another wants him on their active roster. But Kent’s still around and people around the team are pretty excited about his potential for the future. The team is just in need of reliable receivers at the moment, something Kent isn’t quite yet. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back on the roster later this season though. Again, he likes being in Seattle by the sounds of it and having an ex-teammate from college couldn’t hurt.

niko's right on
General consensus is everyone loves Kent’s athleticism. He just needs further refinement…read: route running and gaining separation. There’s a good chance he’ll see the field again as a Seahawk down the road. Right now he’ll run with the WRs in practice, get a little more coaching and give the defense a good look against his speed and size.

Really?
so the whole sammie parker thing is just a big plot to make sure that Kent doesn’t leave?
Wow…

Not that part
I don’t think he meant that part was correct. The “Parker for Kent” thing is nothing but wild, rampant speculation on my part. It’s reaching for reason in a fog of WTFs.
I don’t mean to be a jerk, but his name is Samie with one m. I only bring it up because I always thought it made him more of a badass. To see him lowered to the level of other Sammie’s is to make him more human.

No plot...
That was mentioned by a local sports radio jock but doesn’t seem likely. Parker was on the air yesterday and said he got the call mostly due to his familiarity with the West Coast Offense.
