Roper ---> Partially torn MCL
George Schroeder is telling us that Roper's "knee sprain" is indeed a partially torn medial collateral ligament... or MCL. They made a point of saying that his ACL seems to be apparently ship shape for now. Still, the MCL tear will hold him out 2-4 as we've heard... but I'm thinking more like 4-6. This offense... much as I (and we all) love it... it's taken big time tolls. The worse that can happen now is that Chris Harper takes a helmet to the knee.
Oh god. Fuckey doo no. Please god. Spare Chris and Darron. And LeGarrette.
Ugh.
I'll be up with a longer more in-depth fanpost about our injuries and their psychological effect on us later, but for now this will do.

Its not the offense
its a damn fluke. I’m convinced that if it were the offense, Florida, Utah, WVU, Purdue, and Northwestern would have these injuries all the time as well.
Both of Nate’s injuries were non-contact, after all.

See I've been trying to tell myself that this whole time
But… it’s hard to ignore. Notice how in Florida, when Tim Tebow runs, he makes the read, then goes verticle and just rumbles. The reads Dennis and Costa and Roper have been doing around around the end, shifty, change-of-direction shit. And I don’t know if that causes as much as I think it causes, but I’m more than a little frantic these days.
That said, it is beyond me how Pat White and Vince Young have never torn ACLs.

Alex Smith is an Urban Meyer product
It’s the mold of Tebow, Jake Locker, and I’ve noticed they might be going there with Chris Harper.
It’s a much less effective running style in my opinion, but it seems to be safer. QB sweeps, QB read + dives, just hiding behind blocking, that’s safer than going around the end into open space when you have to have planted footwork for the life of you, (or so I believe.)

If an adjustment does need to be made
I’m fully confident that CK has the foresight to make it

If I were a H*sky fan (perish the thought)
I would be absolutely TERRIFIED of L*cker. He’s the only decent player on the team, and he’s a running QB. One of these days, he’s going to take a hit and the season will go down the drain.
…of course, I said that as if the Fuskies had a chance this season anyway…

Dave is right above
These injuries have been incredibly fluky. We’ll get some luck back soon.
Also, I’m excited for the Masoli/Harper era. Masoli can actually throw the ball deep, something Roper has been completely unable to do (or not allowed to do).

I'm excited to see Masoli unfold into the Division I pace
When he gets his timing and pace of game down, he’s gonna be lethal.

3 weeks till the mess that is USC
If we can survive Boise St then we get WSU to practice with. Maybe we will be able to get enough of an offense going to score against USC
You two are also very good at reassuring 14 year olds of luck shifting
That I thank you for.
Your friendly neighborhood placekicker.
The good news
Is that except for USC we shouldn’t have any trouble with the teams on our schedule until we get to Arizona State next month.
Proud member of Duck nation!
Purdue's better than WSU or BSU...
They’re middle-to-low Big-10. Boise has Ian Johnson but not a lot else. This isn’t the same team that went to the Fiesta Bowl. Wazzu is just bad

Purdue was not a bad team
Purdue was out there making plays. Yes, we handed a few over to them but they also took advantage of the opportunities we presented to them. They are a veteran team, especially on offense. The exposes some weaknesses in our defense and I’m really worried about teams that offer that similar look. We should give them at least a little credit. They had a great gameplan and almost got the victory

Hope is the last thing to die...
That said, I believe that MaSooLee and J Harp as capable of running this offense as Rope. Given the level of competition the first two weeks, and what we will see the next two weeks, I believe that both of these guys will get the reps they need to prepare for USC.
I actually like the way the schedule unfolds from here – two weeks to retool the offense and prep for USC, a great recovery and redemption game following, a week off to prep for the AZ St. & Cal games (who’s going to show up?), two cupcakes, a week off, and then wrap up with a dominating win in the land of potato salad.
Especially lead by our defense (that is showing improvement each week), I believe we can go 6-2 over the balance of the season – though I do of course hope for 8-0…
Moseley has good news on Roper
Only definitely out for this week
