ATQ Week 3 Blogpoll Ballot

This weeks ballot is a total mess. Here are a few thoughts:
- Yes the Pac-10 is a total mess. Is Arizona (after losing to New Mexico) really the 5th best team, one place behind a team that lost at home to UNLV? I'm willing to forgive Cal's loss in the long term because it was a long way from home, but they will have to do some work to break back into the poll. ASU must play well next week to gain consideration, but the UNLV loss wasn't a fluke. UNLV played them straight up.
- Auburn is a total mess on offense. They've had problems in earlier games, and scored only 3 points this weekend. They are dinged accordingly.
- Ohio State couldn't run the ball or stop the run. This could easily continue against Penn State and Wisconsin. I guess the Big 10 isn't an open and shut case.
- The Big XII is very good this year, and it'll lead for some very exciting football.

And probably a little harsh on us. I know we struggled a bit, but still a quality road win.

Why do you have Penn State so high?

They've done more than expected
Sure, it’s been against not the best of competition, but I’ve thought Penn State a good team for most of the year, and they’ve exceeded my expectations. I don’t think OSU is as bad as Penn State made them look.
If Penn State has a bad game, that will come into play, but they’ve done everything they can thus far.

USF?
I’d put the Bulls somewhere around 10-14. BYU is right on. I’d put Texas Tech between 15-20. I still think they’re overrated and only a system team. I think they’ll struggle when they play real defenses.
To be honest, I’m glad we struggled at Purdue. We hadn’t been challenged yet, and it was good to see our team play with guts (epitomized by Byrd’s return where he ran out of steam at the end but kept going). I think the resiliency and toughness will help when we endure that terrible Pac-10 stretch with 4 of 5 on the road.
