Jersey Contest: Scoreboard

Thanks for everyone participating in the first week of the ATQ Jersey Contest. We had a great turnout, with 83 total submissions. Don't worry if you had a bad first week -- there's plenty of time to catch up.

Of the 83 total submissions, we had five perfect scores. Congrats to RustyInEugene, Russ, DuckinNC, Harringtoncuz3 and Dave (who is doing his best to erase last year's miserable performance). On the flip side, there was only one entry that did not pick a single game correctly. That dubious honor goes to ChicagoQuack503, who is brining shame to ATQ's large Chicago contingent. The most popular set of picks, by far, was picking Michigan-Missouri-Clemson-Cal-Fresno State. This particular slate was entered in 27 different instances

I would just like to first, piss on Utah for living up to preseason hype in the first week, and then piss on Clemson for the exact opposite reason.

It’s weird seeing jteubs near the bottom of the list too.

And Chicago folks – now that the Gameplan debacle is in full swing, are the weekly Rocks parties out of the picture? Might be a good thing, as I don’t know if my fiancee can show her face around there anymore (but she got results, dammit!)

Only OSN only games won't be shown.

All other games should still be on. At this point, that means no Utah State or Boise State games.

Crap

Just looked at the schedule again and realized this means we won’t see another Duck game until October, what with the wedding/honeymoon, and all. It was already like that for my Vols.

So much for college football being a 3-month sport in my world. :-(

Well

The sound wasn’t on at the bar because of a private party being held over at the other end of the establishment. This was despite a good 30-40 green-n-gold-clad people on our end of the place. So the compromise was made that when the party ended at 10pm (note, this was 1 hour after gametime in the Midwest), they’d put the sound on. So my girl goes up to the bar (complete with her U of O eyeblack patches…geez) and asks why the sound isn’t on now. Bartender gives her the runaround, saying that it’s a Saturday night and the bar’s packed. A nervous ntrebon and jtlight rush to the other bartender, trying their best to dissolve the situation before all U of O backers in attendance were lumped in the same category as my Lovely.

So the conversation became heated. Bartender asked my girl to go outside with him. At this point, I’m worried she’s getting thrown out, so I head out after her and listen in as she proceeds to tell him the only reason the bar is packed is because it’s full of Ducks fans. She then says (paraphrasing), “You’ve got the Chicago chapter of Oregon Alumni here. You’ve got two of the head writers of the top sports blog here (snicker) that TOLD everyone in Chicago to come out to your bar and spend money. Can you please put the sound on?”

Yep, within 3 mins, the sound was on. It was a performance almost as forceful as a J-Stew run between the tackles.

No audio

When it was decided to switch from Witt’s to Rocks, it was known at the time that there would be no audio for at least the first half of the UW game because the private party was already booked. Jared and I just wanted to make sure that there weren’t problems with too many Duck fans complaining about the audio. We realized that as a rivalry game, there might have been a lot of upset fans.

Its ironic. I may be the only author that actually lives in Oregon, but, the Chicago delegation is so strong, that sometimes I’m the one that feels left out.
