Time to wave goodbye to the Ernie Kent era
I’ve never been Ernie Kent’s biggest proponent. I think his offenses are a little disorganized, and the team has trouble finding points with the talent they have on the court if they aren’t shooting well from distance, or face an aggressive or talented defensive team.
All in all though, he has led us through some great years.
That said, its time for a hire to step the program up to the next level. With a new arena, and the amount of donor money going to Oregon basketball, this level of ineptitude is inexcusable. And lets face it: “Ernie Ball” gets us an Elite Eight appearance every four years when a talented crop of Seniors, who would likely carry most coaches into the tourney, wills themselves into putting together a good season. But when it really takes some talented coaching, adjustments, and one on one work with his team, Ernie Kent just isn’t the guy to develop our players.
I’m not saying Mark Few is the answer. It would have been nice if Oregon would have paid more attention when Mike Montgomery was available, but regardless: It’s time Oregon started looking for a new coach.

i completely agree. montgomery would have been great.
i think its better to get a coach who can take decent recruits and make a great team than a coach who can get great recruits and then not do anything with them. i havent seen any improvement at all this year.
"I think people in this state like BOTH teams," proclaims Nick Aliotti, the Ducks' defensive coordinator. "Except for our hard-core fans, I don't think most Duck fans would have been terribly upset to see Oregon State going to the Rose Bowl."
Another reason he needs to go.

I don't think Mark Few really wants to leave Gonzaga
I know he says Oregon would be a great job, and all the reasons why are obvious, but why leave Gonzaga? He is the King of Spokane, the King of the WCC, he has another great recruiting class coming in, it just wouldn’t make sense.
Oregon needs to look around smaller-school coaches (MVC coaches come to mind) because right now they have the talent, but they are committing mistakes that small-school coaches coach around, i.e. turnovers. With a new arena in place next year, they need to make a big splash.
My one hope for UO and Ernie Kent is that it isn’t a bad break up. While I hate UO as much as any Beaver fan, I can give props where props are due, and Ernie has been a great coach for you, probably as good as any coach could/would have been during his time. I hope he steps down and Oregon gives him a little severance (which I’m sure would be quite plenty) for his years of service, and it doesn’t end in an ugly divorce.

Another coach to look at is St Mary's Head Coach
I’m blanking on the name, but he would probably be ideal at this point for Oregon

I can't find the thread right now, but we discussed the whole Few situation a couple weeks back.

Yeah I haven't been around lately
Otherwise I would have definitely jumped in on that. It is a hot topic for debate. You do have to wonder what’s going through Few’s mind right now as he watches this Oregon team crumble faster then Mac Court, and his Gonzaga team underachieving immensely…

Thanks, internet has been down at the house in Corvally
I know I know, insert “you-have-electricity-in-Corvallis” joke here haha
What are your thoughts about this basketball predicament? Because in all honesty, maybe only UCLA boasts more talent top to bottom than Oregon in the conference. They are definitely in the top 3. That in of itself should lead the Ducks to some wins. Kent must have really hit rock bottom…

My thoughts are the same frustrated, unoriginal thoughts that everyone else is spouting.
I have nothing brought to the table other than I’d rather be with you lighting candles and churning butter in Corvallis than here at my Aunt’s house with a bunch of plastered, loud old people playing computer Family Feud and preventing me from peacefully watching SNL reruns by myself.

If you didn't already see Dave's post...
I think it sums up all of our feelings pretty well…

Few and the WCC
I’ve said it before. Coaches of Few’s stature don’t aspire to be the winningnest coach in WCC, they start looking for a place with the resources it takes to compete for a championship. Gonzaga has been consistently good for years, more so than Oregon. But Oregon’s program has shown the ability to go deep into tournaments when talent matures. New facilities – perhaps the best facilities for a short time – a top tier conference, a rich and supportive fan base and a big salary will turn Few’s head at some point.
Why not Oregon? Why not soon?
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Tajuan
TP has 22 points but 19 of it was on the first half
With TP neutralized, it shows what the end result would be
I don’t know if it is poor coaching or something else, but that’s an observation I have with this game

I'll take 22 from Tajuan any night.
We can’t put that on his shoulders. Just because he exploded in the first half, doesn’t mean he should be scapegoated for not dropping 40 in the second half.

quantify that, if you will, VD, as to ucla poss. only team in the pac 10 with more talent.
Very caring of you. Nice try, didn’t even have to spit the hook out.

Ok, going against the grain and my own beliefs here but...
But give me a team with more 4-star talent than Oregon right now… Maybe USC? Maybe… Can’t think of anyone else…

As nice as 22 pts from TP is, it isn’t that hard to score in bunches when your offense consists of plays designed to encourage jacking up fadeaway threes. We’ve got some talented post players, but they are underutilized and underdeveloped to the point it makes me sick to watch Oregon basketball this season.
Ugh.

The lack of I Can Haz Basketball cursed us.
"When Bellotti attempted to shake the hand of Oklahoma State quarterback Zac Robinson after the game, Robinson offered his left hand. His right was swollen and battered from the Ducks' defense."
