Ducks 10th in final AP poll, 9th in coaches
In the final polls of the season, Oregon was voted the 10th best team in the country by the AP voters, and 9th by the coaches, which is a great way to end the season. This is the first top 10 finish for Oregon since the 2001 season, when Oregon spent all but one week in the top 10.

Wow
I honestly didn’t think they’d be able to jump all the way to the top-10. A very nice recognition for the team, particularly for the outgoing seniors.

How pissed do you think Boise State is? Although, I think we’d beat them if we played them again. That game was the perfect storm.

If we played them right now...
We would most likely beat them by two touchdowns…

Yep
I have no doubts that we could beat BSU at this point. The growth of Masoli and the changes to the defense would more than make up for the dreadful middle two quarters of that game.

No question.
There can be no debating the fact that the Ducks were a vastly different team late in the season. Just the same, BSU did what they had to do, came in to Autzen and got an unexpected win. Props to them. The beautiful thing is that Masoli will very likely get his shot to show BSU exactly how far he’s come in this offense early next season.

Next season
I am already pretty pumped about next season — which is going to make for a long eight months. The preseason looks like it could be pretty challenging, with BSU, Utah and Purdue on the slate. However, it will be nice to knock out two potential BCS busters early next year. Hopefully.

We're guaranteed one thing.
No one will be able to question Oregon’s strength of schedule. It’s a tough one, but it breaks favorably for us with Utah, Purdue, USC, Cal, ASU and OSU all at home. Now that I’m back living in Eugene…time to see about season tickets. Yay!

I think I have conference in Portland the week after the ASU game. It’ll be fun to be back at Autzen.

I’m already making plans to go to the Boise State game, in addition to at least 3 home games.

An excellent subject.
My favorites:
The original BridgePort Ale
Full Sail Amber
RedHook Longhammer IPA
Don’t consider my opinions of any value though. Once, sitting on the loading dock at BridgePort on a fine summer evening, a very drunk Portland Mayor named Clark said I was “full of shit.”

So here's the real question:
Should the Pac-10 consider expanding to 12 by adding Utah and Boise St or Fresno St?

Well...
As much as I like the round robin…we should at least consider it…
I think adding BSU and Utah wouldn’t be a bad idea, and then we’d have an even North/South divide. BSU may be tough to get in academically, as well as for other sports. Utah would be a very solid candidate all around.

if we had a north south divide, itd be more balanced than the big 12, though having the state of washington to compete with wouldn’t be totally fair.

I would only want it if it brought us a playoff.
I love the round robin schedule. I know the Big-12 and SEC folks make comments how the Pac-10 is a joke until it gets a conference championship game, and I beg to differ. The Big-12 was a prime example of how faulty that system really can be. The three best teams in the Big-12 were all in the south. They didn’t place #1 vs. #2 – it was #1or2 vs. #4.

The Big 12 has some serious balance issues...
It has 2 traditional powers (Texas, Oklahoma) in the South, and only 1 in the North, and that one (Nebraska) is a shell of it’s former self. When the upstart programs (Texas Tech,Okie St.) are also in the South, well…that’s rough.

How to fix?
But, that’s bound to happen over time. You’re not suggesting shifting teams from division to division, right? Sort of like tweaking the BCS formula.

Nope, no fix...
The main problem is that the best 4 teams were in the South this year…that is a major problem.

How can Big 12 fans say
that a conference championship game isn’t a joke? Let’s go back to 2001. Neither Nebraska (which lost the Big 12 championship game) or Colorado (who won the Big 12 championship game) deserved to be within sniffing distance of an NC, considering the Huskers got blown out by Miami and Colorado got pantsed and spanked by a certain awesomeful program full of awesomeness out of the Willamette Valley.
I’m ambiguous about expanding the Pac 10, but there is something to be said for the fact that it’s the only conference in the country where everybody plays everybody.

Doesn’t the Big East play round robin? Granted they have a whole 8 teams in football… But still.
