Tako Tuesdays: Happy Fun Sunshine Time!

Well that was a weird Monday, no?  There was bickering, disagreements, we laughed, we cried, we threw up in our mouths a little.  See what happens when we try new things?  Goodness...

But this is USC Week.  Not Hate Week.  I know we're still all riled up from an exceptional Happy I Hate Washington Day, but now that we've dispatched the Huskies we're misusing our anger.  And as a wise man once said, "Anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering."  The last thing we need this week is suffering.  For after all, USC is coming.  College GameDay is coming.  Halloween is coming.

IT'S A CELEBRATION!

Use this Tako Tuesday as a guide to happiness, positivity, and good will this week, and we will unite together on Saturday to support the Ducks to a win over the Trojans.  After the jump, you will find a reminescence of three of the great Oregon triumphes over the Trojans, motivating all of you to put aside your petty differences in honor of a greater cause: Oregon Ducks football.

First up, Oregon-USC 2007.  Oregon was coming in ranked #5, a yard of not fumbling away from being undefeated.  USC's only blemish was the shocking upset in the Coliseum at the hands of Tavita Pritchard and Stanford.  Mark Sanchez was making his third start for USC, and his miscues were the difference in the game, as Matthew Harper picked him off twice.  The Ducks scored 14 points off turnovers in the game, and Dennis Dixon made the country take notice of his talents with a great passing and rushing performance.  Harper finished the game off with his interception on the final drive, and the Ducks asserted themselves as national title contenders.  In fact, they were so good that after beating Arizona State the following week, NCAA commish Myles Brande cancelled all remaining games and handed the national championship to the Ducks.  At least, I'm pretty sure that happened.  And look!  Kirk Herbstreit used to like us once!

For those of you who have foggy memories, this is quite possibly the most dominating performance in Oregon basketball history.  The Ducks absolutely played USC out of the Staples Center, winning 81-57, including an 18-3 USC run to finish the game against the Oregon backups.  Bryce Taylor played the perfect game, going 11-11 from the field, 7-7 from three-point range, and 3-3 from the free throw line.  The Ducks overcame a game officiated by Dave Libbey to shoot 54% from the field and holding the Trojans to 38% shooting.  Tajuan Porter was named Pac-10 tournament MVP, and the Ducks rode the momentum from this game all the way to an Elite Eight appearance.

Lastly, let's take it back in the day.  The scene is 1994.  Quarterback Danny O' Neil is out with a staph infection on his ring finger, and backup Tony Graziani steps up in a big way.  The sophomore goes 16-31 for 287 yards and a touchdown to Cristin McLemore as the Ducks won in LA for the first time since 1971 by the score of 22-7.  The Ducks D truly became Gang Green that game, as the defense knocked out quarterback Rob Johnson in the 3rd quarter, racked up nine sacks in the game, and were able to contain the dangerous Keyshawn Johnson.  The win set the tone for a 7-1 Pac-10 campaign and a trip to the Rose Bowl.

Keg Stickers!

They're back baby!  The first Keg Sticker goes to trumpetduck, for his help and contribution to the Happy I Hate Washington Day post, especially the name Happy I Hate Washington Day, which was 100% his invention.  Next up, hazmat5793 for his infiltration of enemy territory and for getting out alive.  We were worried there for a second.  JShufelt gets one for compiling the Happy I Hate Washington Day Video Clip Orgy, for being generally awesome, and because it was his birthday yesterday.  Finally, a Keg Sticker to keeerrrttt1 for providing almost all of the YouTube clips in today's post.

I Need a Beer...

The Oregon volleyball team needs a beer after dropping both matches last week to UCLA and USC.  Look for the Ducks to bounce back against the Beavs this Friday at Mac Court.

Steelers defensive back William Gay needs a beer after this unfortunate incident.  Ouch.

Jake Locker needs a beer to nurse his wounds.  But nothing good.  Jake Locker gets JDraft.

As always, there will be no arguments or quibbling in the Tako Tuesday comment section.  This is a jovial atmosphere.
