Quack Fix: Maisel on Autzen's noise; looking back at prior wins over USC.
As the tension continues to build, the Ducks are starting to get the kind of media attention worthy of a top-10 team. Or, at least worthy of the next team to play USC on national TV. Whatever the case, it's nice to be getting the microscope treatment for all the right reasons. Here's your morning fix:
- The Ducks are front and center over at ESPN this week, including this Ivan Maisel piece about the unique environment that is Autzen Stadium.
- Here's ESPN's video preview for the upcoming game.
- Ted Miller likes the Ducks by a field goal, and suggests that USC's freshman QB Matt Barkley might be underestimating the hostile atmosphere in Eugene.
- Do you remember Akili Smith streaking straight up field to beat USC in 1998? The R-G's Ron Bellamy does, and today gives us an enjoyable reminder of the four dramatic victories Oregon has scored over USC in Eugene since 1998.
- Rob Moseley caught up with 2007 SC-game hero Matt Harper, who his game sealing interception of Mark Sanchez "...seems like it was yesterday."
- It sounds like the "Blackout" or "Lights Outs" theme for Saturday's Halloween is gaining momentum, but also some scrutiny from some who have concerns about the potential for racial implications (ask your favorite Beaver fan about how their blackout went over). I like the "Fright Night" reference, personally.
- Athletic Director Mike Bellotti is awaiting a recommendation regarding the status of LeGarrette Blount. It sounds like Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott will be in town for the big game.
- In his latest diary entry at OregonLive.com, Oregon's Carson York relishes the beatdown of UW and looks ahead to a challenging match-up against USC. I enjoyed this line about Yorks experience in Seattle: "On the sideline guys were saying things like, 'I hate these guys,' even though we couldn't explain why." Behold, young Carson, the power of the almighty Juju.
- Jeremiah Masoli gives his knee a B. Sophomore lineman Mark Asper was back on the practice field Wednesday after nursing a bum ankle. Writer Mike Tokito takes a look at the USC defense, which can't afford their play to slide further in Eugene. Finally, that Paris Hilton quote often attributed to Kirk Herbstreit...turns out he never said it. Herby sets the record straight with The Oregonian's John Hunt.
- The first ESPN/USA Today men's basketball top-25 poll was released today. The Ducks aren't on it. Ernie Kent's Ducks are working hard on their full-court defense.
Whew...that's a lot of quack. Pace yourself Duck fans.

There’s so much quack this week. Here’s one of my favorite pieces so far, a profile on David Paulson.

I will laugh so hard
If Barkley tries to compare ND’s noise to our noise. N Lame Stadium is nothing compared to Autzen (I know people that have been to both and they say its not even close).
I’ve said it before, this USC team does not scare me the way they often have the last decade. That’s the major difference.

I think I might overdose on Quack this week
AUUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHH IS IT SATURDAY NIGHT YET!!!!!!!!
For the love of juju can it please be Saturday already!!!!!
I enjoyed the banter with the Dawg fans...
the conquestchronicles is a far cry from the uwdawgpound. I definitely had a lot more fun last week but there is more anticipation for this game.
Look Matt Daddy, when you start to hyperventilate...
Just think of your happy place…In the defensive backfield holding hands with Cliff Harris, knowing that no reciever will catch a ball thrown near him
On Halloween; USC will die, Matt Barkley will cry, and all of the little bandwagoning Trojan fans will shout "WHY!?"

holy shit that made me laugh

On the Fright Night Theme
How cool would it be to see the dressed in all black Ducks run out of Autzen’s tunnel to this song blaring from the loud speakers!!!!
RE; Fright Night Theme
I vote for “Run this town tonight” so that the crowd can chant:
Only thing that’s on my mind
Is who’s gonna run [AUTZEN] tonight… Is who’s gonna run [AUTZEN] tonight…
[DUX] gonna run [AUTZEN]

Quote from Trovon Reed's guardian...
“They need receivers so there’s an opportunity to play early. They have a good coaching staff that has been recruiting him really hard, we heard they have great facilities, the weather is always nice there being on the West Coast, there’s the NIKE connection and he likes their uniforms a lot. Oregon has a lot going for them and Trovon is very interested in the school.”
Uniforms getting noticed, surprise, surprise.
I've been telling folks for years
I don’t care if I like our unis (although I mostly do) because the recruits love them. Any edge we can get within the rules is a good one.

I guess I’ve become uncool (assuming I ever was cool) at the ripe old age of 27 because I think our uniforms are pretty hideous, as do all of my friends. But whatever, if the kids like em…
Defending maligned chants since 2009
I was not a big fun of the original lightning ones
But I really like the newer ones, especially the green ones.

Or hear about other dudes talking about dudes’ pants.

Most of you are too young to be the product of one of my one-night-stands at UO
but I think the uni’s get better every year. I hated the mallard green colors of a few yrs. past.
If ya can't get your Dick Enright, get your Dick Harter!
Uhhhh, Father? Is that you?
I personally agree about the uniforms, I have progressively liked each of the past 3 combos more that the last. This new set is SWEET, I am anemic at the jersey contest, I will have to buy my own!

Trovon Reed is FASTER than a god damn Ferrari!
All signs look good in terms of recruitment :)
Simply “hearing” about the facilities does not do justice to how nice they are…!!!!!

I just read an ESPN article about the big USC RB.
Who wants to bet that LGB has been getting alot of run this week on scout team?
If Duke ever built a Cameron Outdoor Stadium, it would be Autzen.
Our scout team skill players were pretty great this week: Darron Thomas, LGB, Diante Jackson, and Tyrece Gaines.

Quick question...
I’m thinking about going as Chip Kelly to my Halloween party…any idea where I can get an Oregon Ducks visor? Keep in mind I’d rather not drive up to Portland to the Duck store (I’m in Salem). Are they selling them at places like Fred Meyer’s? Thanks for any help info someone can provide.
Moseley retweeted an ESPN note...
…which claims Phil Knight will be the guest picker on Game Day. Let’s hope he does as well as Lavell Edwards.
By the grace of Juju, we all are day-to-day.
no no no
lets hope he DOES BETTER, Lavell picked BYU but they lost, hopefully his pick comes true

I love how they started torturing the hats with TV shows.
But my New Orleans upbringing tells me that that is not proper voodoo.
Now 2-0 in Husky Stadium with a win each for LSU and Oregon.
I support Sonja Newcombe for Heisman.
