Oregon trounces Washington State 52-6

The Oregon Ducks dominated the Washington State Cougars in Autzen Stadium tonight, 52-6. However, what's even more impressive than that, is that the Ducks outgained the Cougars 514-158, and out first down'd them 31-4.

There wasn't much to criticize this game, with both QBs completing over 75% of their passes, while the running game averaged over 5 yards per carry, with no back having more than 13 carries.

Defensively, the Ducks had 4 sacks and 2 interceptions, and limited the Cougars to 3 yards per play.

The only real concern was injures to Jeremiah Masoli, LaMichael James, C.E. Kaiser, though none of them appear to be serious.

While Washington State is likely the worst team the Ducks will face this season, it's very encouraging to see that there was no letdown, and that the Ducks did what a team contending for the Pac-10 title should do.

So let's enjoy another Pac-10 win, as this four game homestand ends, and look forward to a big road game next week against the UCLA Bruins. GO DUCKS!

Oh my. What to wear for an important date at the Rose Bowl?

Last time this year. Let me check the closet. Oh my. I haven’t a THING to wear.
Aha. I’ve got a bright idea. I’ll call Shufelt (or what name he’s going by this week) at ATQ. I KNOW he’ll have some thots.

All those injuries are no worries

They were just pulled because we were kicking ass and didn’t need to risk more injury.

i don’t like loosing one guy per game until we have none. i think it’s a bad way to win football games – losing good players, but i might be wrong.

For love of juju, I’m going to have to ask you to refrain from using the term “ACL”, “MCL”, or “PCL”!

Guy behind me at Autzen says "why do the fans yell 'OOOOOO' when we are on D?" He then proceeds to yell "DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" on every defensive play for the rest of the game. As Carlos Mencia would say, "Dee Dee Deeeee".

Agreed, how airheaded of me.

But you should know that all 100K fans were doing side to side’s and other knee strengthening exercises the whole time.

Bands like Ghostland Observatory made it easy, that beat requires a lot of lateral movement.

I would like to point out that our defense has essentially played a shutout two weeks in a row, and the points we’ve given up have been because of special teams.

He needs to teach his returners

When to field and when not to field the ball. That fumble should have just been allowed to die. Even though it probably dies inside the five, its basic FB that you don’t go after it.

Yeah, that's right. Special teams are still 'works in progress' I guess.

That kick-off out of bounds was not impressive either. And the kick off returns. Question: When they always kick to the small area between the hash marks and the side-line (especially the right side,) can a good special teams coach set up a super return strategy based on that tendency?

by DONALDUCK on Oct 4, 2009 12:24 PM PDT up reply actions

Still too low on the coaches poll (ranked behind Ole Miss and a few other teams) but not bad at all.

Harris poll to come out later.

The guy who spreads the bread gets to croon the tune.

In this case, TV means money and TV contracts go to conferences and teams (read No tre dame) who will be ‘in an agreement with’ the network. That’s the purpose for a ‘contract.’ The TV people will do this and the coaches of the teams are expected to do THAT, ‘that’ meaning exactly what you are watching play out (pay out) on the national scene. Do not be surprised or chagrined or outraged. Its BIDNESS, the way the south has allays dun bidness.

Oklahoma, Georgia and California all ranked ahead of Oregon. Where’s the justice? I know these rankings have been bad through the years, but I don’t remember them being THIS bad. I think that Boise St. game really screwed us as far as national perception goes.

I found it comforting

That despite the delusions of the fanbases of both teams, they both seem to have a lot of questions. Namely UW nine plays inside the ND 10 and only a field goal? Notre Dame is just a couple plays from a 1-4 record. Oh and Lou Holz is either stupid, senile or crazy, claiming that ND has a top 5 offense, meanwhile Mark May is beside himself yesterday with Lou’s unabashed bias, absolute poetry. IMHO.

I was rooting for Washington

Only in the sense that if they did win they’d be flying high and we’d knock them off their pedestal in a few weeks.

I’d like to play a Washington team for once that believes it can somehow beat us.

Why is it that

When Oregon beats Cal the headlines all center around what happened to Cal, and how could they lose to Oregon so completely, obviously some kind of fluke. Then USC dominates them and the headlines are all about how great USC is to absolutely dominate Cal in every aspect of the game? CAN WE GET A LITTLE LOVE? USC took our gameplan and won, why do they get all the credit, I KNOW I am biased, but C’mon national media at least try to appear objective.
