Stanford Analysis
Wow. Wasn't expecting that. That's what I'm sure everyone across the nation, not just us, was saying at the end of this one. I'm sure I jinxed by talking about the Nat'l Champ. too early. Sorry , Duck Nation. Anyways, here's my quick thoughts on why we lost but why we have reason to still feel okay:
1: Defense showed how thin it really was. The youth and injuries finally caught up to us. Our line could not get any pressure, our secondary was suspect and, by the end of the game, the entire defense looked so exhausted.
2: The Stanford O is for real, but especially Saturday. Stanford is underated because of their poor track record over the years, but Harbough is a good coach and this program is turning around. Still, I've never seen their offense look so great as Saturday. It seemed everyone was blocking, throwing, recieving and running perfectly.
3: Our offense did not play to its potential but it still played well. Yeah we lost, but considering how much time we had on the field, our offense really did good. There was alot a lot of dropped passes that werent reflected in the stats either.
If our defense had just a couple breaks this game easily is our W instead of theirs. In a way, this might have been a good thing, because it allows us to avoid the BCS/ National Championship drama we would've inevitably been involved in and screwed by. Now we can focus our sights on the Rose Bowl.
