Kenny Wheaton: Tailback?
I was watching the '94 Ducks highlight film today and I think I saw Kenny Wheaton score an offensive touchdown...I'm pretty sure it was in the Portland State game.
Obviously we all know the position he ended up playing, but did he come into the program as a running back or did my eyes deceive me?
I've looked around the interwebs and I can't find any references to him being a running back, but I swear I saw him score on a running play.

You did see that. He scored his first TD as a Duck as a tailback in the opening game of the ’94 season against Portland State. Here is a video of that touchdown (it may take a bit for youtube to process)….

I don’t hate youtube so much since they added high quality videos.

first game of the season.
and several of the RBs had been hurt in fall camp. So with teh depth chart in limbo at the start of the season, coaches decided to temporarily move Kenny to the offensive side of the ball until the primary RBs healed up. They only had 3-4 different plays for Wheaton, basically sweep left/right and pitch left/right, but Kenny did manage to score on offense before Kenny Wheaton was gonna score on defense.
kenny wheaton is, was, and always will be, gonna score
GEEEEEERHAAAAAAARRRT!!!!!!

Looks like Kenny's wearing a Kert Liedtke jersey.
