Ducks 44, Sun Devils 21: Postgame thread
Well, no questions about the Ducks rebounding from last week's disappointment. Oregon did just fine and, if not for Kenjon's fumble on the punt return, this game is never really close. Masoli and James were their stellar selves, and the defense was much improved from last week.
Stanford's win today means we have to win out. One down, two to go.
Talk about it in this thread.

I have to admit
I’m a little disappointed that we didn’t see any Blount Force Trauma

It’s my understanding that Chip was starting to work on getting Blount in the game, but he’s 5th on the depth chart. LMJ and Barner had their carries, Crenshaw got his. Alston got his. And then time expired. If ASU doesn’t run that draw play, and they go 3 and out. Blount would have carried the time off the clock.

What I think tonight taught us, we can get pressure on the QB, and Canfield will be a sitting duck.
--AddictedToQuack, SBNation's Oregon Ducks blog
I would be,
But we’ve got a BYE the week before AND homefield advantage…
And our offense has very favorable matchups with them.
I’m pretty confident, to tell the truth.
47-20, 42-3, 65-38...So many scores to choose from!

Lot of mistakes tonight, sloppy once we felt confident.

yeah
the PR fumble, couple of dumb penalties, the offensive line really let down in the second half.

So glad the #1 rush defense just gave up 266 yards on the ground
ooops

to be fair

I blame the let up in the second half

it wasn't so much a letup by the offense
as much as them not being able to get on the field in the third.

you mean special teams keeping them off the field
but still, Kelly went to his conservative run offense late in the third and fourth…

you mean when Gerhart drops 300 yards on them
I would say I hope not… I would like them to suffer under his futility as a coach for many years to come

who will their QB be next year?
do they even have a chance to go to a bowl next year

I don't know specifics.
I just know that the world tries to hand an undeserving ND a big bowl game every year, and they take a dump in their pants every time and lose it.

you really expect him to stay 3 more years?

yeah
LMJ will play in the NFL, but likely won’t be a feature back. He’ll certainly stay all four.
And, even if not, he has a decent shot at breaking the record in three.

Great game.
You know it’s a good day when you can be disappointed with how a 44-21 win reflects your team’s performance.
On the minus side, I’m not sure how many more games from Oregon student sections I’m going to be able to tolerate. But, I’ll just try to keep on enjoying it, since I’m sure I’ll miss it when I’ve finished up here. :-)
The Ducks did well tonight. We’ve got a few hours to enjoy it, then it’s time to panic about Arizona!
The Oregon Ducks: Sporting the single best fifth-string running back that college football has ever seen.
I was kind of pissed
About the large number of students that bailed at the half.

Is it a good thing or a bad thing to face Arizona after they sucked at Cal…
I’m going with good….

Very Good

It definitely gives me hope….
Also, how mobile is Foles? Oregon was handling Osweiler pretty well, that other long haired guy was obnoxious as hell though….

Just got home from the game
I felt almost like CK dialed back any of the tricky stuff, especially in the second half, as if he didn’t want to tip his hand to Zona.
And the funniest scene ever was pregame when huge clumps of UO fans where gathered around the monitors by the concessions stands cheering on Cal. Chants of “Lets go Tedford” were picked up around the south concourse.

At his pre-halftime interview, Chip talked of “managing the game.” So, yeah, he definitely went into that mode, minus the one drive when ASU had just cut it to 10.
--AddictedToQuack, SBNation's Oregon Ducks blog
I'm especially thankful...
That no one got hurt. We’ve lost entirely too many QB’s and more to ASU over the years. (Musgrave and Dixon are the most notable of examples)
"KENNY WHEATON'S GONNA SCORE!! KENNY WHEATON!!--Jerry Allen, 1994"
I was kind of watching the game tepidly because I was hoping we wouldn't have another key injury in a crappy, easy game.
That happened twice the past three years against WSU.
Addicted To Quack [dot] com; Six-hundred and ninety-four yards of total offense.
Yes.
We lost Jeremiah Johnson for the remainder of the year at the blowout in ’07, and we lost Masoli for one game this year after his twisted knee against Wazzu.

Good game
But man, it was a relief to watch it later on tivo so I could fast fwd through the LGB references. That’s the only reason ESPN was there, it feels like. No interest in the game itself or Oregon or Arizona State.
Big Market Media (*&^^%.
It was a bit sloppy, they weren’t sharp, lacked intensity (or intentionally dialed it back) – but we were so much better that it wasn’t needed.
We’ll need to step it up for the next two.
