Cue the symphony!
With the results of Nov. 21, every mathematical possibility that U$C could weasel its way with the help of massive doses of voter insanity, crazed Juju meltdowns, and the fervent hopes of the media (aka EPSN), has been finally, utterly, inexorably eliminated.
The hopes have been yanked from their grubby little fingers one week at a time..
"Pete Carroll has a juggernaut.. He doesn't rebuild, he reloads.. He beat OSU with a freshman QB on the road! Is there no end to his DOMINATE of foobaw!" -- punched out by his old friend Sark.
"Highest ranked one-loss team, just waiting for one of the big three to stumble!" -- died in Eugene on Halloween nite.
"The Trojans have enough tradition and support and fan interest across the country to get a BCS bid with two losses! We'll rank them ahead of Oregon this week, not because we're a bunch of freakin idiots, but because we truly believe they're the better team!" -- skewered by the double-nickel laid on them at home by Stanford.
"There could be a six-way tie! Trojans get to the Rose Bowl if Arizona beats Oregon and Wazzu beats Oregon State and..." -- Beavers win 42-10.
Now, the latest meme:
The Holiday Bowl.. the consolation prize for the Pac-10's 2nd-best team, awarded to USC??
The only question is: In this reductio ad absurdum, what's the next step -- given that a U$C loss to either Arizona, or UCLA, or both, is likely?
