Media Wednesday - Screen Plays Have a Rosey Result
With a bye week in place for the Thanksgiving Holiday, we look back at the last time Oregon was able to get to the Rose Bowl. The year was 1994 and the Ducks had to travel to Corvallis to take on the Beavers needing a win to seal their trip to Pasadena. Everyone knows the story, the Ducks won and moved on but what you may not know is that it was a simple running back screen play (with some incredible blocking by some wideouts) that gave Oregon the points they needed to win the game. Screen play...sound familiar?

Thanks!
This is much better than seeing quarterbacks writhe in pain.

It's spelled "T-A-K-O-T-U-E-S-D-A-Y-S-!-!-!."
I support inroywetrust in his support of The VD Special in his support of me supporting Roger Kieschnick in his quest to becoming the best Kieschnick ever to play professional baseball.
If you post Jean Luc 800 more times, I will laugh every time.
I know Jean Luc, it’s ok, I can’t freaking believe it either.

I figure it’s way less obnoxious than a LOLcat, like this guy:

The Rose Bowl was already in the bag
If I recall correctly, another team (USC?) lost earlier in the day, so Oregon would have gone to the Rose Bowl even without beating the Beavers.
Of course, beating the Beavers is its own reward!
Is it just me or would anybody else like to see the ducks wearing those throwbacks for the Civil War?
Kenny Wheaton #20; The Pick - 1994 v UW. Matthew Harper #20; The Pick #2 - 2007 v USC. John Boyett #20;...
nah, I loved the throw backs, don't get me wrong
But this is our chance to show off on national TV the Oregon Ducks. Bring out the modern, bring out the flash, bring out our football team in their truest sense. We have always been a program to try and push forward every chance we get and this is a big big chance. I dont know about the carbons, but break em out if their ready. Lets get alien on their asses.
Can I get a Gooo Ducks?!

I'm predicting...
That we’ll be wearing the carbon/steel look for the CW. We always bring out the newest unis for the last home game.
"KENNY WHEATON'S GONNA SCORE!! KENNY WHEATON!!--Jerry Allen, 1994"
and on another, calmer note, anybody listen to that Don Pellum post-UofA-interview?
He was asked about the 24 all bubble screen and he corrected the interviewer, I believe and called it a ‘tunnel screen.’
First time I’d ever heard that term. Anybody? What’s the difference? One goes for 71 and 6?
Bubble screens are quick passes to a receiver where another receiver is there to pick up the near defender on the corner.
Usually the receiver is required to break a tackle or make an unblocked defender miss if they want a big gain. Speed is also critical to out run a linebacker and/or the safeties.

Tunnel screens are quick passes to a receiver whom then runs more towards the middle of the field where the offensive line has engaged in blocking schemes against the linebackers and secondary. It is more like a conventional screen, only it is usually quicker to develop.

Alright, nicely done, Shu. Rec'd for timely and clarity (luck?)
and I take back what I wrote about the beer story being BS. It WAS the best/funniest story ever to appear on ATQ and will be replayed on youTUB ad nauseum.
For instance, in the Arizona game, the Wildcats ran a tunnel screen that went for 71 yards and a touchdown.

nope, you can tell by the way the receiver was running towards the QB in motion at the snap

Beat me to it.
Nice.

Officially getting some more often than The VD Special since 2009.
I'll also remember the punt return the year we went to the Fiesta
Which of course would have been the Rose but for the B*S.

Love the old school Prime Sports Network
Presentation too. I remember watching that and they had this stupid graphic of a Cannon going off they kept using because it was the “Civil War.”

I was at this game.
It was my second Ducks game ever, the first being the game against Washington, which featured “The Pick.”
And you wonder why I’m OBSESSED…
Addicted To Quack. If you’re not into the whole brevity thing.
On a less analytical and more nostalgic note, Dino Philyaw ws underrated.

I go back to the Akili days but frankly, I love the latest uniforms the best. Please no retro.
Our football may or may not have gotten better in recent years, but I wholeheartedly support the Uniform trends.
Video missed best part.
A minute before that snap, the line was set and TE Josh Wilcox on the far right just fell backwards out of his stance flat on his back. He was exhausted and fighting the flu and he just blacked out for a second.
Ducks took a five yard penalty and the next play was this Philyaw TD.
