Media Wednesday - Looking Back at the 2007 Stanford Game

Today, we look back at the last time the Oregon Ducks went to play the Stanford Cardinal on the Farm in Palo Alto. The year was 2007 and I was just one of the many Duck fans that made the trip. The stadium was about half green/yellow and half red with plenty of open seats. I personally remember the Duck fans in attendance chanting "Beat the Tree" in glorious reference to the Houston game from earlier in the season. Here's a look back at that game.

Go Ducks!

Nice clip! Lots of fireworks in this game, I remember it very well. Hopefully, it will be a lot more one-sided towards the Ducks on Saturday. Go Ducks!

A non-televised game if I remember

Which sucked when we started losing.

Hopefully we won’t spot them a lead this time.

I was at my uncle’s wedding in Napa, getting cell phone updates and drinking heavily. I knew next to nothing about the game except that we won.

Jaison Williams

Oh those were the days… sigh… making spectacular catches, drops and fumbles all in the same game.

Just realized this watching that video. Oregon’s two running back backfield the last three years:

07- JJ and J-Stew
08- JJ and Blount
09- LMJ and Barner

Out of those three pairings, I bet you could find some good arguments for which was/will be the best duo for Oregon

JStew is the best, I dont care who you pair him with

The Ducks' 27-point margin was one more than the margins of all seven of USC's losses since 2004 combined.

I gotta go with ’07.

didn't JJ get hurt for part of the season in 07?

He did, tore his ACL against WSU. It was J-Stew and Crenshaw for the second half of the year.

Shame on me

This year we’ve been so good on D, I almost forgot what it was like when every game was a shootout. Guys couldn’t tackle. Receivers were wide open on a regular basis. The offense had to put up 40+ points to get a W.

I think Allioti found Jesus.

I was just thinking about how slow the defense looks in this video. Not so anymore.

And…

Kick-off FAIL!

By the grace of Juju, we all are day-to-day.

Ugh, I remember that game like it was yesterday. Sitting in the student section, those two blocked punts were right in front of us. And even then, it seemed like Joey would tie it up at the end, but he just couldn’t do it. Everyone that wasn’t completely drunk walked out in stunned silence. Painful.

I'm there with you...

I thought it was totally over when Smith took the kickoff back to the house at the beginning of the 4th…and then suddenly, we can’t get a first down…and punts get blocked…and our dreams of playing in the NC game were crushed AT HOME! I want to go set a tree on fire right now just thinking about it.

Wow, to think that Oregon had a 23 game home winning streak going, was 6-1 at the time, and the Stanford game was the first sell out of the season???? Mind boggling.

Stanford hadn’t played in front of a sold out stadium that year. Autzen had been sold out every game.

As did I.

Generally kabuman has good music choices as well. Axl Rose is an a-hole.
