Quack Fix: Kelly Fourth In AP's COY voting; Duck Recruiting Updates
Hopefully you're done with the shopping, the malls, the traffic and the crowds. Frazzled? You're not alone. Here's a bit of Quack to help take the edge off.
- Rob Moseley continues his Duck-of-the-day series with Oregon's leading receiver heading into the Rose Bowl, Jeff Maehl.
- Stephen Alexander of the Portland Tribune caught up with kicker Morgan Flint, who teamed up with Nate Costa to save one of the biggest extra point kicks in school history.
- Catch up on some of the latest Duck recruiting news...I know I've been tough on Bob Rickert in the past, but recruiting seems to be an area where he's well connected. See his latest notes and some predictions.
- Chip Kelly received three AP Coach-of-the-Year votes, finishing fourth behind TCU's Gary Patterson, Cincinnati's (now Notre Dame's) Brian Kelly and Alabama's Nick Saban. For whatever reason, I find myself bristling a bit at OregonLive's use of the word "routed" in their reference to Chip finishing fourth.
- Bill Rabinowitz of the Columbus Dispatch gives Buckeye fans a nice primer on the history of Duck football, stating that now is Oregon's glory days.
Yeah, it's a little thin today. Keep your eye out for anything interesting through the holiday weekend. And be sure to get your nominations in for the 2009 Amanda Award. Happy holidays fellow ATQers.

Routed?
Charlie Weis was “routed” in the COY voting (I hear he earned 6 NEGATIVE votes). Chip Kelly was considered the fourth best coach in the nation.
I may not agree – I think Chip should have been at least #2 – but that’s hardle getting routed.

Wow,
I really cannot wait until Signing day. Its WAY too far off!
Juju, you have already blessed the Duck masses by diverting Terrelle Pryor to Columbus Ohio; and in the process granted us one magical Masoli who happens to be "sicker than E-Coli (I know from experience with E-Coli, Masoli must be pretty damn sick)". We are all mutually gracious for this blessing. However, in our time of dearest need, we request that one Terrelle Pryor succumb to your overwhelming collegiate football dictation skillz.

ESPN says Byrd placed on IR by Buffalo
Due to groin injury. Made sense to shut him down, great season by Jarius!

Not necessarly
A lot of rookies are being shut down if their teams are out of contention and they are at all hurt.

Yeah,
I’m sure it does. Not to mention, playing for Buffalo does not give you much attention. So it would have been tough for him to actually win DROY; even though he has clearly proven himself.

the 3 defensive ROY bidders are
Brian Cushing—Stellar LB season, basically auto 10 TT a game. Jarius Byrd—We all know why. James Laurinitis—Sneaky Good for the rams. It prolly comes down to cushing and byrd. Byrd prolly has slight edge right now but cushing could overtake him.

Yeah,
I dont see Laurinitis winning due to the fact that he plays for St. Louis. I knew he would be a somewhat under the radar yet very productive player in the NFL when he was drafted
