Pasadena Bound!

We saw a bit of everything.  A long bomb.  Blount force trauma.  Sean Canfield playing out of his mind.  And Jeremiah and LaMichael being amazing.  Credit the Beavers for a valiant fight, but WE'RE GOING TO THE ROSE BOWL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me say that again:

WE'RE GOING TO THE ROSE BOWL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll have some thoughts up later, but for now I just want to shout and smile.

Pac-10 Champions!  Pasadena, here we come!

LMJ proved that he is the elite young back in the nation. Hands down.

Masoli proved he was the kind of clutch, AGAIN! Maehl proved that he is our underrated and underestimated target on offense. Barner proved he gets the job done when it counts. Coach Kelly proved he has balls of bronze, the size of half dome.

Now ee have to prove legitamacy, and send a certain Tressel back to the wasteland of Ohio with, yes, another BCS bowl loss.

At one point LMJ had 11 carries for 6 yards. I blinked, and next thing you knew it was 25 carries for 166 yards. His final 14 carries went for 160 yards. Is that good?

Hmmm, Sounds terrible. 3 TD's are not all that great either.

If he was actually a good fit for our offense, he would have scored 14 TD’s. 40 or so recieving yards only adds to the sheer poor play as well

There are no tiebreakers for the other bowls. They can take whoever they want when there’s a tie. Even if the Beavers owned the “tiebreakers”, the Holiday Bowl would still take the Trojans. The only official tiebreakers are for the championship.

I don’t know whether it speaks in his favor or not that he avoids getting hit where Quizz takes a beating, but I wasn’t too impressed at the number of times I saw him skip out the sidelines rather than try for a couple of extra yards. What I will remember most in this game was Masoli’s run on 4th down. He knew he was going to get tackled short of the 1st, so he gathered his energy and just TRUCKED the DB. I’m to the point where I don’t panic much anymore because I know Masoli is going to make plays.

This is the best night ever. I can’t stop smiling, I just can’t believe that really happened. From the gutsy calls to the big hits to the final drive, and now feeling really stupid when we fell behind by 9 and I kind of chucked my TV table across the living room because I thought the game was over.

Chip Kelly has brass ones, that’s for sure. I have to give serious respect to the Beavers too, it hurts to say it but those guys played really well tonight and showed that they are a legit team this year. I didn’t expect them to play THAT well at Autzen.

We’re going to the Rose Bowl. We’re outright Pac-10 Champions. We took it from (and to) the Beavers for the second year in a row. I don’t know how to celebrate, nothing is big enough to salute this team and what they’ve done through the season and on the field tonight.

Looks like a beehive.

It wasn't the first time I'd been kicked in the cherries and called a rat by a woman, but it was the first time I didn't mind.

I would venture to say that Autzen is, in its essence, a behive.

Don’t make the hive angry.

Whether he be met by rain, sleet, or DB's, the Maehlman always delivers.

I LaLove my Ducks. Best way to start a new decade imaginable... Oregon in the Rose Bowl January 1st!!!!!

I don't want to take ALL the credit for the win...

But I did dig up a “Ducks ’95 Rose Bowl” hat from my Dad’s attic before the season began…….. So, you know, I’m just sayin….

Life is hilarious.

Got up at 4 am

To watch the whole thing on a bootleg site from here in Istanbul…So glad I did!!! Very entertaining, and as the sun rose over the Strait of Bosphorus, the Ducks prevailed.

Thanks for satiating my virtual fandom, guys!!!

Congratulations

Hey Ducks,

Good game tonight. While I’m DYING here (hack cough x_x ) from how close my Beavs were to winning, I have to admit Oregon was generally the more clutch team this season. [confession: I watched all the Duck games, don’t tell anyone :-x ] Chip Kelly did a stellar job of getting his team back on track after the Boise State disaster – very impressive for his first year. Thanks for helping to boot USC out of their “boo hoo, not another Rose Bowl” whiny perch and getting the state of Oregon represented in Pasadena!

Half of me thinks the Beavs threw the game at the end to avoid the knuckle-wrath of #9 (jk ;-p )

But we’ll get you next time, Duckies…! * shakes fist * >_< -o
Now you better go beat THE (snicker) Ohio State!

Thanks!

It was a great game. I vote that both teams take care of business every year from now on so that we can have the Rose Bowl on the line every time!

Civil War for the Rose Bowl! We should do this every year!

Thanks, Scotty! I’m glad it came down to the end of the game between these two programs for the Rose Bowl. Such a great storybook year!

OSU vs UO

If somebody could provide some side-by-side stats/comparisons, that would be really appreciated. I am interested what this match up will look like. Not to mention, I have a OSU fan already bragging about how the Buckeye’s are going “duck-hunting”. From my limited perspective, I feel like Oregon is the stronger team in this match up.

by DucktheViking on Dec 4, 2009 1:17 AM PST reply actions

I honestly don’t see Ohio State having much success on offense unless Terrelle Pryor has the game of his life. That isn’t stats, but that’s my first thought.

Just woke up. Pinched myself.

Yup, this is actually happening. Wow.

37-33. Pasadena. Roses. Bliss.

Just some thoughts.

First off I wanted to write this last night but was too drunk from the Ninkasi/watching the Ducks win and go to the Rose Bowl. So I slept on it and woke up to write this.
1. I was not at all thrilled with the uni’s at first but they ended up being rosy-get it rosy :)
2. CK is a fucking stud who knows the pulse of his team. Many a coach would have either punted or tried a FG in those situations, but for him to go for it TWICE tells me that he knows his team and he knows what they are capable of. I feel this confidence comes from his overwhelming depth of knowledge with this team. He never puts them in a situation where they cannot succeed and so far they have rewarded him.
3. Lastly I can’t wait for Jan 1st and an ass whuppin of tHe oHio stAte inflated egos.

If Duke ever built a Cameron Outdoor Stadium, it would be Autzen.

Rec’d for drinking Ninkasi.

Since you seem happy we converted on 2 fourth down plays, you might be glad to find out:

Your man Kelly actually went 3-3 on 4th down conversions last night.

A little extra one to enjoy with a glass of Ninkasi tonight!

You're right. I forgot about the 6 yard pass to Maehl.

Pac-10 Champions!!!

I just can’t say it enough. PAC-10 CHAMPIONS!!!

But, setting aside the euphoria for a moment, we do have a serious issue to discuss. Do we build Chip Kelly’s statue in marble, or bronze?

PS: Pac-10 Champions!!!

Don't look now

…but Masoli is now 2-0 in Civil War games.

by surgingchaos on Dec 4, 2009 10:12 AM PST reply actions

There is no I in team

Oregon is the Only bcs bowl team with no INDIVIDUAL players up for any major award.

"That's just Oregon football," Masoli said. "That's how we roll."
