Malone is a safety out of Colton, CA, and is another very solid prospect for the Ducks. He committed just days after visiting during the Civil War. Malone could end up playing SAM, replacing Spencer Paysinger in a couple years. Looks like the Ducks are continuing to recruit athletes to fly around the field.

I like Spencer Paysinger.
I like 3 star prospects.
He’s got a good football name.
I’m in.

It's spelled "T-a-k-i-D-O-N-A-L-D-3-0-0-0"

I support inroywetrust in his support of The VD Special in his support of me supporting Roger Kieschnick in his quest to becoming the best Kieschnick ever to play professional baseball.

Seriously...

He is decent sized and really fast. Now Eddie Pleasant actually does have a clone!!!

Our collective lack of productivity has clearly paid off in the grandest of fashion. We are going to Pasadena. Yes, let that sink in. WE ARE GOING TO PASADENA. To be honest, this has not yet hit me-WE ARE GOING TO PASADENA. Wow.

Hmmm… you’ve got a good point, but I don’t want to take your word for it without running it by the Juju.

Derrick Malone: Manlike Record

Oh, this guy is so in. Also, bonus anagramification for the ladies:

Derrick Malone: Liked Romancer

Yeah, I’ll be putting these in the Rose Bowl edition of the Whispers of the Juju.

Civil War for the Rose Bowl! We should do this every year!

I knew it was only a matter of time after the CW

That recruits would start to commit to UO!

Now if we could just get King or Owa, and a DB like Mathis…I would be happy

Rumor has it...

that King now has us over Cal. Also, Mathis has always had us as number one. I can’t imagine anything changed after this weekend. But it’s all moot until they sign that LOI.

by kolson82 on Dec 6, 2009 8:27 PM PST up reply actions

I knew that Mathis has liked us for a while...

But King is needed very much, and has me a little nervous with talk about Cal and Alabama!

Yeah...

I know that Scout.com has bumped Oregon up on King’s list as the only team being listed as ‘high’. I don’t pay for any of those recruiting accounts, so I can only assume, but something must have happened for King to have cooled on Cal like that. For awhile it seemed like he was a lock to be a Golden Bear.

He told Duck Territory about a week ago that Oregon was #1 on his list. I think just being at some big Oregon games, he’s seen how great the program can be, and the energy around it.

Not to mention to of his NC friends are Duck commits...

And Chris McCain is said to be recruiting people pretty hard (I remember reading that with Dontae Williams)!!

It's amazing to think...

that Oregon is on the radar of so many national recruits. I never thought I would see the day where the top 5 of the top 10 recruits (according to Rivals) were/are considering Oregon. Hell, Oregon still has a chance for a few of those kids…just crazy.

I wonder how much in-season success affects recruiting?

Everything I’ve hears coaches say lead me to believe that success one year usually pays dividends three or four years down the road…I just wonder if that’s changing now that so many college teams are getting exposure.

by kolson82 on Dec 6, 2009 8:41 PM PST up reply actions

I really don’t think it’s that much. It definitely helps with exposure, but once a kid is interested, it’s not a big deal.

Yeah...

that’s what I was thinking. It just seems quite rare that a kid would suddenly change his mind about Michigan because Oregon was going to the Rose Bowl.

Wow

He’s like a clone of TJ Ward and Paysinger combined. Obviously if he puts on weight, he will be a great SAM backer for Aliotti to mess with defenses with.

I LaLove my Ducks. Best way to start a new decade imaginable... Oregon in the Rose Bowl January 1st!!!!!

It certainly seems that the Ducks are doubling down on the 3-4 type schemes. If they can pick up a couple more corners and safeties (which I’m very confident they’ll do), we could be looking at one of the best defensive stretches in Oregon history.

I agree (I think Azzinaro is having a lot of influence for years to come… man we have to hold on to that guy). I really want to see a big nose tackle recruit. Bair is great, but his undersize limits the ability to stuff the run up the middle. A beast of a NT could really solidify this D, especially with the speed at LB and DB we seem to continue to bring in

Hopefully we can pull in Werner or Hemuli, and both visited last week. We’re also after some big time DEs (Owa, King, Easley). Get a couple of those guys, and our D-line will be loaded.

I was looking at that Heimuli kid last night

That is EXACTLY the guy I want to see up front. 6-4 280lb. You ain’t pushing that guy around, and if he can require a second blocker, you just gave Pleasant, Matthews, or a DE a lane at the QB.

It doesn’t say who is recruiting him. Its got to be Azz right?

Oh yeah, and add in Owa or King… OMG!!!! (settle down Matt, settle down, it hasn’t happened yet…breathe) OMG!!!!!!

PERFECT!!!!!

I am actually more excited for our possible D recruits this year, than O recruits in previous years. Pryor and Brown have nothing on Owa, King, Heimuli, McCain or Malone! Come Aliotti, Neal and Azz, pull these guys in.

If we can pull in a big D-lineman or two (three please)...

I will scream like a little girl who just got a pretty pony for her birthday!

Yeah, I would scream THAT loud

Wheelchair?

That means he should have a very low center of gravity when pass rushing. No O-lineman would be able to pancake him
