Morning Quack Fix: 2.18.09
Happy Hump Day. Let's have us some quack:
- In recruiting news, the Miami Herald reports Bryce Brown will not sign with Miami, narrowing his list of suitors to Auburn, Kansas State, Tennessee, USC and Oregon.
- After breaking the U.S. indoor record for the 5,000 meters, Galen Rupp has been named USA Track & Field's athlete of the week. Oregon's indoor team continues to impress, and Rupp is a big part of their success.
- It sounds like the Oregon men's basketball team is pretty banged up. LeKendric Longmire, Churchill Odia and Drew Wiley all sat out Tuesday's practice due to injuries sustained last weekend in Washington. Coach Kent hopes all three will be ready to play in Thursday's game against Cal.
- Meanwhile, Cal coach Mike Montgomery thinks Oregon's men's basketball team is "not bad," and that the Ducks "do lots of stuff." Thanks, Mike. Aren't Stanford and Cal types supposed to be smart or something?
- And finally, ESPN.com's Pat Forde mentioned the Ducks in this week's rendition of his "Forde Yard Dash" college hoops equivalent, "Forde Minutes." Not surprisingly, the mention isn't exactly positive.
GO DUCKS!

is the baseball stadium all ready for games? I was there the other day and it looks as if there is a lack of seats/stands.

From earlier reports, the stadium was never going to be completely done for this season, but it was going to be playable. They were going to use temporary seating this season before having things all finished for next season. I also seem to recall that the locker rooms wouldn’t be finished this year, either.

That makes sense. I thought the plan a while back was to use Civic Stadium until PK was finished, or is that false?

From this press release, the home opener will be played at PK Park.

Brown
I know the topic is endless and I hate to keep beating Brian Butler with stick, but this link has info (albeit a small amount) that USC may be out of the picture as well…

I think he is wearing out his welcome at just about every place that he “wants” to go.
May we hand you your taints on a silver platter...

USC fans
I have read some posts of usc fans sounding off about bryce brown. Most are saying who cares he is a headache and let him go to eugene or miami. I did find one smart usc fan though. He definatly did not want brown here, stating what is going to happen if brown does work out and becomes the next johnathan stewart do we want to be playing that guy every year. Just thought that was cool.
