Morning Quack Fix: Bellotti, Kelly, Gaines, etc.
It's a busy weekend, and with the other stuff on the front page, I'm putting this here, a place for all your Bellotti, Kelly, Gaines, etc. links.
- The RG has some exclusive online content here, including a sideshow of the Bellotti years, as well as a timeline.
- Ken Goe has a great article on Bellotti and his football philosophy, and how it helped create some of Oregon's best moments.
- Ron Bellamy looks at how Mike Bellotti brought Oregon to the forefront of college football.
- The paper also goes over the Bellotti years season-by season, looks at the All-Bellotti team, runs down his best wins and worst losses, and looks at the numbers during his tenure.
- Though linked to yesterday, Ted Miller's article on Bellotti and his tenure at Oregon is a great read.
- Doctor Saturday runs over Oregon under Bellotti from a nation perspective.
- In Kelly news, George Schroeder says that Kelly's ascension has been 2 years in the making, and that those in charge knew he was the man long term not long after he stepped on campus.
- In Kelly news, Miller says that he's more than a mad scientist with the offense, and has the skills to be the full package as a head football coach.
- Nick Daschel says that while Kelly has potential, and many Oregon fans expect Kelly to take Oregon to the next level, he's going to need to be great to even match Bellotti. Also, he mentions 65-38, which is always fun.
- Here's the RG story on Gaines, who says that he has faxed his letter in to the University. Apparently, there has been issues with the transfer of credits. He's saying all the right things, and I hope he's at school by the end of the month, to get a feel for the system.
If you find anything else, post it here! GO DUCKS!

That Schroeder article comes as a complete surprise to me.
Really, really informative links Jared. Thank you.

I think there is a little too much hype on Chip Kelly being a HC
People discussing him as taking Oregon “to the next level” and what not. The guy hasn’t run a program yet (not even at New Hampshire). Not taking anything away from what his abilities as an offensive coordinator and a tireless recruiter, but it seems a little ridiculous to anoint him the savior as a HC already. We shall see.

Nothing’s a sure thing….
He has the tools to be incredibly successful, but you never know with college football. As you said, we shall see.

the program he is taking over helps
I think MB was going to take this team to the next level. Its just ready to be taken there, every thing appears to be falling in the place. If Chip jumps out of the gate like he did as the OC there is no reason to believe he cant help take that step. I know the “if” is the key, but things are looking good.
Ducks Go!
Already miss you MB

I think the Oregon fanbase has actually been relatively realistic through all of this...
It’s an exciting era in Oregon football. Our boy genius has just been put in the most important office in football. Like it’s been said, I don’t think Chip will be alone as an HC. He’ll have great assistants, Bellotti down the hall, and I’m sure he’s been in prep for this for some time.
I don’t think we have anything to worry about necessarily. I don’t see Chip suddenly running us into the ground. We may have some speedbumps early on, but as I understand, Chip’s basically been the man since November. His QBs love him, recruits love him, the Athletic Department loves him, we love him. All he has to do is use the playthings he’s been blessed with from Coach Bellotti, and he could do some very special things for us. I mean, more special things for us.
I imagine the UT fanbase is pretty confident in Muschamp as well. It seems they will enter the HCing ranks within possibly a year or two of eachother, it’ll be interesting to see if they both stay on the ball.
