Morning Quack Fix: 5.1.09
The news the Chip Kelly has hired OC/QB Coach Mark Helfrich is dominating right now, so make sure to chime in your thoughts below. Let's get to the rest of the quack:
- Oregon baseball continues it's march of futility this weekend, battling UCLA at PK Park. This season doesn't get any easier, and the Pac-10 schedule has been absolutely brutal. I'm just hoping we can put a few runs on the board.
- The ODE has an article that focuses on Chris Harper's contributions. While he's played at WR a lot, he's also been touching the ball in other ways as well. I wouldn't be surprised to see him look into transferring after spring practice, so seeing him get involved in the offense at every level is a positive development.
- With the hire of Helfrich, the Oregon coaches are set to hit the recruiting trail on Monday. Moseley lets us know what areas each coach will cover.
- Also, for those attending the Spring Game, here is some info on the format.
GO DUCKS!

Working on details
Dom and I are texting as we speak. I know we’ll be there at 9 a.m. We expect to have a tent and will be BBQing. Watch for a front page note a little later today.
I'm really tired of it not being football season.
I’m 75% sure I’ll be there tomorrow.
I’m too lazy to research myself, but I forgot what the requirements were to get in the game? Two cans of canned food?

Excellent.
Three cans of non-perishable – leave the sour cream at home. It’s $2 for parking in the stadium lots with the $$ going to the Todd Doxey’s Foundation.

If you want also, you can show up at my house at 8:30am and get a ride. Whatever works out good for you. Might be too early, who knows but probably will have at least 2 cars…maybe more

Jshuf is in that awkward transition phase between 20’s (still sleeping in, wanting to be a party animal) and 30’s (starting to get up earlier, requiring coffee, have this strange desire to watch the weather channel and take a nap)

and at 40...
You’ll get up even earlier, drink two cups of coffee in the morning, wish every day at about 2:30 p.m. that we had siesta in America, take a 20 minute nap at 6 p.m., and have to physically fight off the urge to watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune every evening.

Best news of the day?
From Ted Miller’s ESPN blog:
Former Washington State quarterback Jason Gesser is going to be a high school head coach.
Hopefully this means no more appearances for Gesser on FSN college football. Horrible.
