Pflugrad granted scholarship release
According to Moseley's sources, Aaron Pflugrad has been granted a release, and will look to transfer.
This comes as quite the surprise, considering that Pflugrad had a surprisingly good spring. However, I can't say I'm totally shocked. Despite his spring, chances are good he'd be sitting behind Holland, Davis, and Gaines on the outside, and Maehl and Harper on the inside. Also, his dad getting let go earlier this spring couldn't have helped his love for the University.
Good luck with with the future endeavors Aaron.

Bah – I don’t like it. Pflugrad may not have had eye-popping size or speed, but I always thought he had great hands. I gotta believe that there would always be playing time for someone like that.
Yeah, he was looking to actually start this year it seemed.
I expected this to happen much earlier if ever, and when it didn’t, I thought he would stick around after all…
Well, good luck SuperPflu. You will truly be missed, at least by me.

I would have supported this.

I support inroywetrust in his support of The VD Special in his support of me supporting Roger Kieschnick in his quest to becoming the best Kieschnick ever to play professional baseball.
Well she'll never graduate from my heart <3

good thing nothing is ever deleted on the internet. We'll always have that SI spread.

Montana mebbe?
If that’s where Papa Pflugrad ends up…
One other familiar face was noticeable: Former Griz receivers coach Robin Pflugrad (1986-94), lately of the University of Oregon, was on the premises.
He’s no longer coaching for the Ducks, and Hauck said Pflugrad’s presence is not a regular or permanent basis at this point. But having a guy with 28 years of coaching experience should help a team that still hasn’t filled its receivers coach opening.
“He’s just kind of been volunteering,” said Hauck. He said he made job offers to three receiving coaches in February, and all declined. "With us having an opening on our staff, we had the opportunity to have him volunteer for us.

All former Ducks head for Montana State, for whatever reason.

Sorry I'm not good at linking
I don’t think he could go there because of the last sentence in this article…

Yeah? Well ook you, too.
But seriously, I’m not sure what you’re getting at. According to that last sentence, he would have 2 years plus another redshirt year if he went to Montana.
Oh
nvm i thought it meant only in an FBS school but it said NCAA Bowl Subdivision (Division I) school, and that would include Montana?
PADO
montana is an fcs school
If I remember correctly (and i am sure i will be corrected if im wrong) he would have to sit a year if he goes to a fbs school but not if he goes to an fcs school.
Too Bad
There should always be room on the Ducks for a WR who can learn all the plays for all the positions. He was so cerebral and helped all the guys. Was it LT who said Pflu was helping him to most learning his routes? He will be missed. Pfluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Sleeping under an avalanche with Cartman, wake me Sept 3.
this seems to confirm that he transferred due to his dad getting canned. Kelly says it was a surprise after his spring performance and that it was a “family decision.”
I think one of two things happened. Either Robin is closing the deal on a new job and Aaron sees a new opportunity to work with his dad, or Aaron has intended to leave all along – who could blame him – and he was smart enough to take advantage of the reps he got by sticking with the team through spring drills.
I’d rather have seen Pflugrad stay, but with Maehl and Holland locking up two spots, I think we’re bound to get two other capable, if not flat-out dangerous, options among Tyrece Gaines, Chris Harper, D.J. Davis (hopefully he comes back from a knee like JJ did) and Rory Cavaille. Blake Cantu looked surprisingly decent during the spring game and if Pflugrad was capable of having an impact as a freshman, so might Diante Jackson.
I’m more concerned about who will return punts.
I'm really tired of it not being football season.
Thurmond returned punts last year. I bet we’ll be ok there.
I put forth another scenario. Robin is let go and Aaron (and the family) is beat up about it. Aaron, wanting to do things the right way, figures “what the hell, I’ll give the new coach a shot” and sticks around to give him a fair shake. Goes through spring, gives maximum effort but realizes that it just isn’t something that works for him and wants to be closer to Dad. Spring practice is over and its the perfect time to make the decision because of schooling. The other schools supposedly in the running are Wazzu, Boise State and Colorado State…all fairly close to Montana where Robin is currently at.

J-Byrd returned punts. I don't recall Thurmond ever returning punts in his career.

I stand corrected. I thought he was back there on some punts but apparently I was mistaken. Thurmond did return kickoffs though so at least he isn’t completely without experience back there.

I think you are right though. I do wonder how his relationship with Frost was now.

Here’s my answer: The new two-deep roster posted earlier today shows Kenjon Barner as the #1 punt returner.
I’ll buy that. Kid looked good with the ball during the spring game.

At this point, just don’t fumble the freaking football…that’s all I want.

Not like it was all that great last year. Punts returns helped win a game at Purdue, and then lose a game at Cal.

I think the main issues with the Cal game was the really bad interception by Masoli before the half and the penalty in the redzone that took away a touchdown.

Cal was all kinds of horrible.
I think J-Byrd did a fantastic job returning punts all year long. There are videos from the Fusky game of his punt returns that were really, really good. Cal was the only fumbled punt he had all year that I can remember.
