Around SBN: Jeremy Lin And How The Pac-12 Missed Him

Summertime Conversation Starters, Episode 1: The Phantom Handoff

So since AtQ has been a bit of a ghost town as of late, as the only major things going on are track kicking ass and baseball limping to the finish, how about a sort of Ducks, sort of not survey to generate some banter?  Oh, and as always, a poll.

1.  If you could be any Duck athlete, past or present, for one season, who would it be?

2. Who is your favorite current Duck athlete?

3. What's the best sporting event you've ever attended?

4. Complete this sentence: Dan Fouts ________.

5. Favorite color?

6. Favorite sport to play and to watch?

Star-divide

My answers:

1. Aaron Brooks in 2006-2007.  The big shots, the great play, the Elite Eight.  That woulda been fun.

2. Walter Thurmond III.  If you're an athlete, you're in the entertainment business.  So entertain!  We're outrageous suits, rock a sideways flat top for an entire season!  Have fun!  You can get away with a lot of stuff in terms of appearance and demeanor that you couldn't in most other jobs, so you might as well enjoy it.  A close second would be Matt Humphrey.

3. Civil War 2008.  And it's not close.

4. Dan Fouts should be hired away at any price to be Oregon's play-by-play announcer.

5.  Orange.  I know, right?  Hey, I was a Giants fan first.  Gimme a break.

6. Favorite to play: baseball or golf. Favorite to watch: March Madness basketball, or baseball.

Poll
Dennis Dixon sees Derek Anderson on the side of the road with engine trouble. What does he do?
Stop to help, because Dixon is a saint and will always help his fellow man, even if he is a douche.

Drive right on by, and maybe give Anderson the finger.
3 votes
Run him the eff over. Then back up and do it again.

Call the cops and inform them of the dead hookers that Anderson no doubt has in his trunk.

The list...

1. I’d like to say Bobby Moore (Ahmad Rashad) only cause he bangs the mom on the Cosby show, but I am going with Kenny Wheaton. I would be immortal as a Duck, and that is just damned cool.

2. Riley Showalter. I used to beat the crap out of him with his older brother when we went to grade school together. Now I am sure the tables would turn.

3. 2001 season vs. USC. A late FG to win! Carrol had a smug look on his face when they took the lead. The face after the FG was better…

4. Dan Fouts was a great Duck QB who should never have gone into broadcasting.

5. Blue

6. Golf to play and Golf on TV, March Madness or any NHL playoff game (wide spectrum, I know)

May we hand you your taints on a silver platter...

1. Harrington circa 2001-02. Crazy football good, revenge on the Buffs for the weasel’s fake punt AND tall and handsome AND mad jazz piano skills? Imagine the possibilities.

2. T.J. Ward. Style and substance.

3. 2003…31-27 over #3 Michigan. Great environment. Great game. Great result.

4. is very fortunate to have spent all those years calling games with Keith Jackson.

5. Amanda?

6. Watch – college football and Stanley Cup playoffs. Play – anything my kids feel like playing that day.

4. Complete this sentence: Dan Fouts is a blowhard asshat douche who needs to remember where he came from. I’ve got family that knows him personally and I’ve never heard that family member say a single nice thing about the guy.

1) Keenan Howry 2001. He may be my favorite Duck of all time.

2) I don’t have a favorite player for this year. Last year, it was Nick Reed. I hope one of the receivers makes a push for it. I like having my favorite player be a receiver…which hasn’t happened in some time.

3) This is a toughie….probably the most exciting was the 2006 Oklahoma game. In the stadium, it was insane.

4) Dan Fouts is a person, that doesn’t get me worked up either way.

5) Green

6) Favorite to watch, college football, by a looong shot. I don’t really have a favorite to play. I’ll play just about any sport.

Howry was a treat. My favorite Duck WR ever is Cristin McLemore. So many clutch catches in so many big games. Of course, now I’m way off topic.

I'm really tired of it not being football season.

1. Jeremiah Masoli this year because the sky is the limit.
2. TJ Ward. Did you watch the Holiday Bowl? That hit on Zac Robinson ended the game in the third quarter. I saw that hit and said, “Game Over!” and IT WAS!
3. USC-Texas Rose Bowl. Probable will still be my answer when I’m 80 years old unfortunately.
4. was a hero before my time
5. Green and Yellow (I know this should be two but I think we can agree it counts as one color)
6. Soccer to play, college football to watch

I'll play

1. Terrell Brandon, 1988-89. Dude played 40 minutes a game, and got to handle the rock for 30 seconds on every possession.

2. Jeremiah Masoli. Great player, great story to rise from unknown 5th-string to starter/hero.

3. Washington @ Oregon, 1994. I was about 10 rows back from the corner where Wheaton made The Pick.

4. Dan Fouts is a loyal Duck and a pretty good announcer.

5. Forest green or Thunder green or whatever we’re calling it. I always liked dark green the best, maybe because I grew up surrounded by the Douglas Fir trees of Wallowa County.

6. Basketball to play, DUCKS FOOTBALL and BLAZERS BASKETBALL to watch.

by DavisDuck on May 21, 2009 12:14 PM PDT reply actions

Really....

1. Joey Harrington 2001-2002 or Dennis Dixon 2007-200…wait he didnt make it there. Love both of these guys to death. Slight edge to Dixon for making all of my friends believers of the Duck power.

2. Blount. Man is a beast and hell of an athlete.

3. Justin Verlander’s no-hitter at Comerica Park a few years back. I was intoxicated but by the time I got home I was able to realize what had happened.

4. Dan Fouts looks like my bestfriend.

5. Lightning Yellow

6. I play soccer so I will say that to play. College football to watch.
