UO Softball Coach Kathy Arendsen Fired
UO Softball coach Kathy Arendsen was apparently told during a meeting with Pat Kilkenny on Monday that her contract would not be renewed after Oregon's worst season in 25 years. From her statements in the story, she seemed genuinely surprised that her contract wasn't renewed. Oregon was 16-34 overall, 3-15 in Pac-10 play.
Arendsen was the winningest coach in school history but 2009 was a huge dropoff from 2008...to the tune of a 19 game swing. Her record against the Pac-10 overall was 47-100 with no winning seasons in conference

Again, Oregon’s athletic department displays commitment to being competitive in the Pac-10. It’s win more than you lose in conference or go elsewhere.
I'm really tired of it not being football season.
Not for long if EK has another losing season. I’m sure that what got Arendsen fired was 47-100 in conference games. Ernie is only one season removed from a few very competitive seasons. No doubt he will make every columnist’s “hot seat” list for the 2009-10 season.
Will a new softball coach – fairly prominent position given the quality of teams in the Pac-10 – be Mike Bellotti’s first hire as AD?

What are the chances we get a former MLB champion manager?
Got one in women’s bball. But seriously, I think its a good idea to wait and make MB hire the new coach. Forget dipping in the toes, Kilkenny is going to throw him into the deep end.
Sleeping under an avalanche with Cartman, wake me Sept 3.
