UP To date Duck football Depth Chart
Includes the absence of Harper and Roper.
Quote from Darren Harper's face book. "Go Hard or Go Home-Its the Oregon way."
Roper transferred in part because Kelly told him he would be 3rd string behing Massoli and Costa. Hard to understand that since Roper had a great spring game and Costa didnt even suit up.
My wife works at the UofO and it sounds like many players preferred Belotti over Kelly in a big way. Kelly is a real hard ass. Moved spring practices from afternoon to crack of dawn. The thing is, I think the one thing we may have been missing of the years is toughness and discipline.

Well this will make things a lot easier when NCAA2009 comes out. Weird that the page is hosted at New Mexico State, though.
And even easier when NCAA '10!

91 Rory Cavaille Sr.
10 D.J. Davis Jr.
Is Cavaille really higher than D.J. “Don’t call me Drew” Davis?
"It’s spelled S-H-U-F-E-L-T-M-E-U-P"
DJ’s going to be one of those guys to check on when fall camp starts. If he can go, that would be great. He looked solid right before that injury set him back.
I'm really tired of it not being football season.
Drew is extremely, extremely underrated in my opinion.
Tall, really good hands. Remember, he beat out J-Will for a game before twisting a knee last year. He’s a really solid Flanker that I think may show up as a playmaker sooner than later.

Well...
Darron Thomas is I think who you mean.
Roper was the second string, at least publicly – I don’t think there’s any way of knowing, though I’d be somewhat surprised, if Chip declared Costa the second string over the Ropertman.

Yeah…Costa over Roper does not make any sense at all at this point, considering Costa couldn’t play. I hope his knee holds up.

I think at long last it will.
He may not be the starter, but the gameplan changes very, very little if Masoli gets a concussion or gets his truckstick jammed and has to wait for another controller to arrive.
It’s a strange thought to finally have the enigmatic entity of Nate Costa playing QB for us available. I want to see how much he can get out of being the backup. God knows what else he could have going for him if he has to leave football. I’m shocked otherwise that the coaches would even let him come back another time.

Does it seem wierd to anyone else..
That we have a slot receiver who is 6’-7"? (Dion Jordan) Shouldn’t he be on the outside? Is it a lack of speed thing?
Pardon my ignorance here; I am not all that familiar with the qualities one needs to be a slot receiver.
May we hand you your taints on a silver platter...
There are a number of things that see him fit better as slot or TE.
First, a Flanker running a 4.72 is almost entirely pointless. The deepball is gone from that side of the field, being that he couldn’t outrun a CB or supporting safety.
Second, his build itself is a lot closer to a TE than anything else. With the logjam at TE this year though, the coaches moved him to slot – which, in our offense, is pretty close to the same thing.
Third, and as is unique to our offense, our slots are used a lot like slotbacks. That is, you’ll see a slot guy in motion who will become the third option in a triple option, or what have you. You’ll see Maehl doing this a lot, but even in ‘07 Ed Dickson used to be put in motion for it as well. It’s something the ‘Y’ and ‘H’ positions are used for, and I’ll think that Jordan being at Y now is possibly in part to a desire to get the ball in his hands. Chris Harper would’ve been perfect for this play in every way. Sigh.

Do we know for sure that CK said Costa would be #2?
Or is this pure conjecture? If the coaches think Costa’s knees will hold up, it makes the quarterback depth tolerable.
