Morning Quack Fix: Slow Tuesday Edition

Not a lot of Duck news out there this morning.  Here's what I could find.

  • Moseley has some interesting links from this past weekend, which include notes on Masoli, Athlon's preseason all-conference picks and an interview with outgoing Pac-10 commissioner Tom Hansen.
  • In non-Oregon related  uniform news, Condotta has (another) preview of UW's new duds, and it looks like Boise State is getting in on the fun, too.
  • Nick Daschel of Buster Sports is ranking the top 30 Pac-10 coaches of the last 50 years.  Coming in at #30 is Tyrone Willingham, who earns the spot for his work at Stanford.
  • Caleb Tommasini (1st team) and junior pitcher Geoff Nichols (honorable mention) made the Pac-10 Baseball All-Academic team.  Given their stats (along with the struggles of the team this year), the requirements for earning the distinction must have eliminated much of the conference.  Jack Dukeminier (1st team) and Monika Graf (2nd team) also made the conference academic teams for men's and women's golf, respectively.  In addition to Graf, three other Ducks earned Honorable Mention.

And, that's it.  Please leave any comments or other links below.

Go Ducks!

BSU unis are ugly. And as a Duck fan, I think I can speak from experience.

Hey I like our unis

Well except for the really violently yellow ones but the new ones with the wings are pretty cool.

I read somewhere that those were a “one time thing”.

We’ll see new uniforms in 2010 though.

three year lifetime. sounds about right.

I hope you’re right. I don’t ever want to see winged uniforms again. It causes some people to engage in that ever-so-lame “Angels In The Outfield” wings-flapping gyration that I just can’t stand. Let’s not have Autzen Stadium become the house where fairies get their wings!

I'm really tired of it not being football season.

Yeah! Autzen Stadium is the house of loud!

I knew I shouldn’t have used the word “house”.

Who would have ever thought...

That leaving Stanford for Notre Dame turned out to be a BAD career move. Interesting the way things play out

I support Takimoto in his effort to support Roger Kieschnick in his quest to becoming the best Kieschnick ever to play professional baseball.

And if the Irish go 5-7 this season, you can say the same about leaving the NE Patriots for Notre Dame. Amazing.

I'm really tired of it not being football season.

You beat me to it!

I was going to come over and post this as well. Should be a good one!

You will get to see Autzen stadium at it’s most inebriated…I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing.

Right. All of a sudden I feel like this might be a good time, but not necessarily a good game.

No disrespect, BoilerTMill, I wouldn’t put it past Purdue to come in and play a great game. But if Oregon loses to BSU the week before, the place is going to be a hornet’s nest. If Oregon beats BSU in the opener, then it’s time to roll like a top-10 team should, at home, at night against a Big-10 team.

I'm really tired of it not being football season.

by JConant on Jun 2, 2009 11:31 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

We didn’t play night games for a while at home for that reason, combined with all the folks that drive back to Portland after the game…

I think it was just because we didn’t get TV times. We only play that late if the game is televised.

I agree. Oregon has a high rating of “watchability” with their unis and offense that people want to see games at the 3:30 Pacific time slot (so that the East Coast can view too)

And we already have 3 national exclusive games

Boise St, USC and OS-ewe, and Cal is regional already….

That Cal game will be nationally televised

Are you sure?

That 12:30 PT slot is usually a regional slot for ABC…

Even the game 2 years ago, which GameDay was at, was only regional. I hope it’s national, but am not holding my breath.

What I meant is saying by the time the game comes around, they will switch things up and make it a Nationally televised game

This is of course, assuming that Cal and Oregon both take care of the non-conference schedules, which I am anticipating they do— although both teams do have tough non-conf schedules
