Morning Quack Fix: Bellotti on transition, ticket sales, and (hopefully) a final word on Harper's transfer
There's a little more quack out there than usual on a Tuesday morning. Enjoy!
- Moseley responds to a lot of the criticism that has been heaped on Chris Harper and his decision to transfer. For anyone still holding a grudge, it's worth checking out. Personally, I wish Chris the best at Kansas State. Except on 9/3/11 and 9/1/12.
- Moseley has an article published for Athlon on Jeremiah Masoli, which details his rise from be being buried Oregon's depth chart at the start of last season to a dark-horse Heisman candidate at the start of this season.
- Jeff Smith from the Oregonian has a *long* Q and A with Bellotti about his transition to AD. Lots of interesting answers, including Bellotti's thoughts on where he might be during the first home football game and how he might react when he no longer has an influence on the game.
- Rachel Bachman, also from the Oregonian, notes that, despite the current economic climate, Oregon is nearing a record total in season ticket sales for this season. Single-game tickets will go on sale this Friday at midnight.
- OBNUG has posted their preview of Oregon. It's a pretty a good read, so check it out. I see that several ATQers have already commented on it.
- Unsurprisingly, Nick Daschel declares USC as Wide Receiver U, thanks in large part to the performance of Trojan wideouts in the NFL draft. Oregon barely squeaks in at ninth place -- one point ahead of Stanford. In a related post, Daschel notes the various players for each team that contributed to the final rankings.
- Finally, Ted Miller continues his "Hope and Concern" series with Oregon, focusing Masoli for the former and replacing six linemen for the latter.
That's it for this morning. As always, leave your comments or other interesting links below.

Anyone know which games will have general public tickets for sale?
I’m assuming USC and the Civil War are sold out but I’m wondering if any other games are.

Oh I'll be on at midnight Friday
For sure, I just want to know what my options are.

How old is that Moseley article?
Roper is back to challenge for the job, as is Nate Costa, a junior who was the projected starter in fall camp last year before suffering his third major knee injury.
"When Bellotti attempted to shake the hand of Oklahoma State quarterback Zac Robinson after the game, Robinson offered his left hand. His right was swollen and battered from the Ducks' defense."

More videos are Oregon Gridiron, at least to me...
Masoli tours the Locker Room, and Nick Cody tours the Mo Center.

Some good thoughts on scheduling from SEC country....
It’s really nice to see someone from the south defend the Pac-10 against many of the ridiculous claims brought against it by many of the ignorant in our country.

Good to hear
The SEC can learn a lot from the Pac-10, like not playing cupcake schools in non-conference all the time.

Though we have some supremely crappy...
…non-conference games this year, I’m glad that we’re finally starting to add bigger names to our non-conference slate as of late and that we’re traveling to play away games with teams that we’d never have given an away game to in the recent past:
07: Florida State (neutral site)
08: Clemson (neutral site)
09: Virginia Tech (neutral site)
10: Penn State, at Duke
11: at Penn State
12: Georgia Tech, at Tulane
13: neutral site game with a Big 12 team TBD
14: at Georgia Tech
16: Michigan State
17: at Michigan State
We had a neutral site game discussion going with Ohio State, but they broke off talks and Notre Dame won’t come to the table right now from what I’ve heard. I’d like to see some Pac-10 teams on the schedule too.
Oregon has trouble getting folks to play us
Because we’re still only Oregon and so programs like ND won’t play us because they would probably lose.

Thanks for linking to the article...
…it surprisingly didn’t draw the venom I thought it would (which is not why I wrote it for what it’s worth) but in the whole East Coast vs. West Coast ridiculousness that always seems to crop up, I was glad to see people discussing the issue rather than going for the whole PAC 10 is teh suxorzz thing.
The Pac-10 and SEC
Are and have been the two best conferences for at least the past several years. It’s kind of pointless to argue which is slightly better.

That was a nice piece, and yes probably a surprise to some of us out west that it came from SEC country. I’m probably less sensitive to the cupcake factor than some others. I see big games on the horizon, including games for Oregon against both Tennessee and Georgia. Tennessee and UCLA getting together. Georgia and ASU. Arkansas and USC a few years back. LSU goes to Seattle this year…how were they to know UW would be abysmal? I’m also willing to acknowledge that the average SEC conference schedule and a +1 for two teams is fairly brutal.
And you’re right, we’ve all tired of the I Can Haz SEC Foosball stuff. As for our end of that often moronic discussion, I’d think more Pac-10 fans would be concerned about how we’ll overcome this USC dynasty problem rather than worrying about how the conference stacks up with the SEC.
Looking forward to your 120 and 10 conferences article. I think I see where you’re going and it might just be a good place.
I'm really tired of it not being football season.

Exactly. I’m sure I’d be drawn and quartered by some SEC apologists for saying this, but I have to say that I’m mega grateful USC isn’t in the SEC. I’d hate to have to stare down that barrel on a yearly basis.
More game ranking!
Stewart Mandel is sooo late to the party. USC/tOSU #1. Oregon/BSU #3.

And Utah-UO as #8
I think Utah-UO will be the better game. I remain unconvinced BSU is THAT good given how few starters are coming back.

Can I ask why Chris Harper has been ragged on so much?
Oregon has had plenty of people transfer this year and in years past, but Harper seems to be garnering the most conversation, both positive and negative. Do you guys have any ideas? Is it possible there were some rifts that haven’t been public? From everything I’ve read, Harper didn’t take any parting shots, and had some pretty reasonable purposes for transferring.
I support Takimoto in his effort to support Roger Kieschnick in his quest to becoming the best Kieschnick ever to play professional baseball.
Also I know it has been people in the media ragging on him, not so much the fans.
