Morning Quack Fix: Today's practice -- full pads and a "competition day"
Only 23 more days until Boise State. How does the team celebrate? By donning full pads for the first time in today's practice. Bring on the quack!
- Moseley notes that the Ducks will practice in full pads today for the first time this fall. Also, continuing a Kelly tradition from the spring, today will serve as the first "competition day". Full pads means we are that much closer Boise State. John Hunt blogs about today's practice, adding that the competition days can help add motivation as well as maintain the high intensity as practices stretch into August.
- As for yesterday's practice, Moseley has a few updates, primarily focusing on the injury status of several players. Chris Courtney of eDuck has a more detailed practice report, noting that intensity might have peaked on Monday afternoon. Courtney highlights the play of two lineman yesterday: G Mark Asper and DE Kenny Rowe.
- If you're even half as excited as I am about the talent that Oregon has at linbacker, make sure to check out Duck Territory's unit breakdown. And the best part? The only senior on the unit is reserve Riley Showalter. I am looking forward to seeing what Eddie Pleasant and Bryson Littlejohn can do this year.
- Molly Blue of the Oregonian has a few video interviews up. The first is with Will Tukuafu about his role as a veteran and goals for the season. The second is with LeGarrette Blount who discusses his relationship with Masoli and the upcoming Boise State game.
- Duck Territory caught up with former Oregon linebacker A.J. Tuitele. A.J.'s answers are mostly short and sweet, but check it out if you're interested in what he's been up to since his playing days ended.
- Finally, eDuck has a story about Mark Helfrich's role on the coaching staff. The transition has been relatively smooth thusfar, with Kelly noting that it's "like he’s been on staff forever".

George Uko, a big time DT that the Ducks are recruiting for 2010, will wait until after his visits to commit. Oregon has a great chance to get this kid, and waiting is usually a good sign for us.

Awesome cover!
I might have to purchase my first copy of Sports Illustrated since the Joey Harrington / Ken Simonton “Civil War” cover of 2001. (Though I assume this is a “regional” cover, so in Chicago we probably get Terrell Pryor or Charlie Weiss or some other Midwest football idol.)
check the link
the other covers are Penn St, OSU, and Ole Miss. I’m thinking you will be getting the Penn St version out in Chicago

Probably a regional cover
I would guess, that’s what they usually do for the preview issues.
Still awesome.

Kelly seems like the kind’ve guy (from what I can tell) that would’ve kindly asked S-I to find another cover, but go figure.
The S-I jinx is a mothereffer. Interesting read on it HERE.
In investigating virtually all of SI’s 2,456 covers, we found 913 “jinxes” — a demonstrable misfortune or decline in performance following a cover appearance roughly 37.2 percent of the time.
nah
Isnt that just for madden

The Duck fan in me hates it
but the artist in me sees no other way. I did laugh at that though

I think that he is calling an audible
and pointing out the Mike LB…
It seems pretty logical from that point of view.
Or he is getting ready for “Victory, right” and taking a knee.
I like either option!
May we hand you your taints on a silver platter...
Did anyone thank SI?
For not putting Cal in the top 15. I remember the last time they had an unproven QB and a top preseason ranking. Didn’t work out too well for Longshore, did it?
Wow! Thanx for putting that up. Can I make a wallpaper? How? AND, my tickets just UPS'd in here...its Christmas!
Where do you live at?
I’ve been waiting forever for my tickets. Were you given a tracking number or did they just show up?
