ESPN.com's Blogger Bias

The members of ESPN.com's conference blog team released their first set of bowl projections for their home conferences today, and if you put together the projections, there will be four teams playing in the BCS national championship game in Glendale next January: Oklahoma, Alabama, Oregon and Boise State. Which should make for a crowded sideline or two.

Coincidentally -- ha -- the bloggers show an inclination to place their own conference favorites into the title game...

Tostitos BCS National Championship Game Projection:

Big 12 blog (David Ubben) -- Oklahoma vs "BCS no. 2"
SEC blog (Chris Low) --  Alabama vs "BCS team"
Pac-10 blog (Ted Miller) -- Oregon vs "BCS team"
Non-AQ blog (Andrea Adelson) -- Oklahoma vs Boise State

The other bloggers -- Adam Rittenberg (Big Ten), Brian Bennett (Big East) and Heather Dinch (ACC) -- don't project teams from their conference into the BCS game.

I suppose it's tough to be 100% objective about things like this when, as a blogger with a beat, you're focused on the teams within one particular conference. But I wouldn't have expected the bias to be this obvious.

At least Adelson had the guts to pick Oklahoma instead of going with "BCS team" as an opponent for Boise.
