More Track Coverage

When you think Oregon athletics the first you think of is track; not football and certainly not baseball. While I've enjoyed my 9 months following ATQ I think weak track coverage is the one shortcoming. With the woman ranked #1 and the mew #2 in the country (indoor track) lets bang the drum a little louder than them. (I do acknowledge that my 9 months following ATQ would have excluded the bulk of the last track season).

Kind of hard to cover the topic as much as we should when all the mouth-breathing journalists/talking heads brought onto ESPN want to talk about how Chip Kelly was raised by good parents and that 25% of the team isn’t behind him.

As a one-time track guy myself…shotput and discus woot!!! Track never gets the coverage it deserves, but that’s the name of the game, sadly. If it isn’t covered by local papers or the school itself, chances are it’s going to be hard to post anything of substance on this site.

Ducks stackin' wins like Leggos, toastin Pac-10 like the Eggos, like we're racin' against some preggos, Dan Patrick we enfuego.

The R-G does cover track. Not like they did in the 70s and 80s, but it’s still arguably the best coverage of any daily in the country..

everything is history, eventually.

I beg to differ.

The U of O track team’s newest sprinter has been arrested for domestic violence. It’s all anybody’s been talking about all week.

I support Roger Kieschnick in his quest to becoming the best Kieschnick ever to play professional baseball.

Well,

Tough to argue with that.

This off-season officially sucks for FIVE reasons and counting...

I personally would love to see more track coverage. Unfortunately I have no idea where to even start to look for data or ideas to post. Plus, I know Jared is too lazy to do it :)

My suggestion is if you want to see more track coverage, do some research and post it yourself. I guarantee there are people like you out there in the ATQ community and if you post it they will come. You’ll start to see more comments and additions to what you write. Hell, Jared might even front page some of it if your coverage is good enough. Either way it will add to what is already going on in the site and I know I’ll read it.

Well Canzano, maybe your parents didn’t believe in you.

BTW, it doesn’t even need to be a fanpost. Fanshots work well too if there are links you just want to add to the sidebar so people can check it out.

I agree. Benzduck has written some great stuff as fanposts, and they got front paged, and then linked to by EDSBS and ESPN.

So if you think making a fanpost is just a waste of time, think again. A well written article or good coverage by anyone can hit a large audience.

ESPN?

I know EDSBS picked up the Autzen A-Cup, but when did TWWL link to one of my droppings?

What good is 15 minutes of fame if you miss it?

We don't actually have too many wolves in my neighbourhood, but I hope that this pic, courtesy of my cats, will serve as an emblem of the New Mexico game. (Just pretend that it's a Lobo.)

In future weeks I hope to use the same photo to represent Huskies, Bavers, Bears and certainly Cougars.
