MBB Gameday Open Thread: Oregon Ducks vs. UCLA Bruins
Oregon Ducks at UCLA Bruins, Feb 27, 2010 2:00 PM PST
Who: Oregon Ducks (13-14, 5-10 Pac-10) at UCLA Bruins (13-14, 8-7)
Time: 2pm PT
Location: Pauley Pavilion, Los Angeles, California
Media: Radio, Satellite Radio (SIRIUS 219, XM 195), Live Stats
I admit it. The USC win surprised me. Do I expect history to repeat itself with a win against the Bruins at Pauley? Let's just say that I would be very surprised if that was the outcome. UCLA is coming off a win against Oregon State on Thursday and will look for revenge against the Ducks who beat them at Mac Court back in January. Oregon was able to turn around the Beaver-induced 5-game losing streak (their second streak of the season) against the Trojans on Thursday but let's be honest with ourselves. Oregon didn't play that well, USC just played a lot worse. UCLA is a 9 point favorate at home and I don't like those odds. Hopefully Nick will take that bet.
Go Ducks!

I agree that luck or USC’s unluckyness was definitely in our favor Thursday night, but I wouldn’t deminish our win. Oregon at least every once and a while deserves to have the ball bounce their way. Some of the team’s problems come from a lack of confidence and I think it was a win we can build on. Although, we’ve had a false sense of hope a couple times this season already. Go Ducks at UCLA!
GO DUCKS. and (shsh... rockets too)

Yeah but my point is that we should not give the opponent or refs :) too much credit for our wins.

The USC win was all Oregon
They took advantage of USCs offensive ineptitude. It sounds easy to do but really isn’t and I give them credit for sure. USC is a good team

That is if..
you want to spend your sunny saturday afternoon inside restraining yourself from throwing up as you watch Tajuan Porter shoot 12 threes. Totally up to you.

Congrats to Cal
Well Canzano, maybe your parents didn’t believe in you.

I think both rpi and pomeroy were in the 30s before this game
As long as they don’t have any more screw ups I think they’re in

JJ with 2 = 29-19…another UCLA turnover. MH, now 31-19.

Our defense is horrible against their slashing nature.
I fucking hate you Mariners
We get a little lost in that zone sometimes. Can result in two Ducks inadvertently defending the same guy and a Bruin wide open.

Overall, this is pretty enjoyable game so far.
It’s amazing what going 7-10 from outside can do for you…
Still so young. They gain confidence off a win, but immediately lose it off a loss. EK’s largest failure may be his inability to manage the fragile psyche of this team, which clearly is more physically able to compete than last year.

actually, that's the overly optimimstic view.
We can lose the next three games and STILL win the NC.
everything is history, eventually.
Ducks win it.
TP is player of the game with 28 pts on 7/8 from 3.

So clear something up for me, cause I think I misspoke earlier. Is Oregon guaranteed a spot in the conference tourney due to USC’s issues? Nine teams play, right, with the 8-9 winner playing Cal?

Ah fuck
We lose tonight and were in last

Unbelievably terrible. Laughable.

If we sweep next week, we could end up with a first-round bye. Fucking Pac-10.

root for USC and UW today and we’ll have a three way tie for the cellar (or 8th place, which every side of the glass you drink from)

Autzen Stadium is where great teams go to die." - J. Brady McCullough, The Michigan Daily.
The frightening team is that of the two schools I root for, Oregon is doing better.
Think about that for a second.

No.
That was my brain after a 2 hour long nap, which was after waking up at 7:30 on a saturday and playing baseball for 3 hours in 30 degree weather.
