Good Bye Ernie
I'm gonna miss Ernie. Took us to places with the basketball team that Dick Harter, Dick Haney, Don Monson, Jerry Green couldn't get to. Good Bye ERNIE, you are a class act. I hope the best for you and your career. I have to write a few more words to get this published so here it is. Mike Belotti, you screwed this up. You needn't have succumbed to the ankle biters who wanted a change.

While I agree that Ernie is a class act, I don’t think it’s fair to call anyone who wanted to get rid of Kent an “ankle-biter.”
I wanted Kent gone, and it’s obviously a sad day for Oregon Athletics. But I checked out on Oregon basketball at the end of the 2007 season. I simply got tired of watching a poor product on the floor, and it showed no prospects of improving.

Just because it’s tough to see the guy go doesn’t mean that it wasn’t the correct move. He simply wasn’t getting the results that he should have, judging by his poor play-calling, game planning, and inability to get the best out of his players.

Hard to keep a coach around who can’t field a competitive team in the worst conference season the Pac-10’s seen since its inception in 1978.
Too many empty seats at Mac, along with a team that did not show any particular improvement from last season to this season, or from this season to this season (yes, they won more games in conference, but they should have done that by just showing up considering the talent level in the Pac this year.)
And I’d rather be an ankle-biter than join those who were content to sit around licking themselves, just because they could.
everything is history, eventually.
Did OP call you a gnome? Aren’t gnomes considered ankle biters?

Autzen Stadium is where great teams go to die." - J. Brady McCullough, The Michigan Daily.
No wonder my ankles hurt so bad.
It turns out I’ve been knawing on them since 1997.
On the positive side, my flexibility has increased ten fold.
My parents don't believe in Canzano either.
Mike Belotti, you screwed this up.
Don’t put this on Bellotti. This was pretty much the obvious decision, and was necessary. If there was any way to “screw this up”, it would have been either retaining him or doing something to make some sort of bad blood between them.

You know how I know you are wrong? Ernie will not go to a top tier school and lead them to a Title. Ernie will not take a mid level program to elite status. That is where Oregon needs to go and Ernie will not take us there.
Hey, I'm Quinn. What's your name?

Never mind elite status.
Let’s be competitive in the Pac-10 every year. Anything beyond that is gravy.
I don’t think it’s unreasonable to finish in the upper division more often than not. EK only did that 4 times in 13 years. That’s insufficient performance.
Finish over .500 in conference, and you’ll make the tourney most seasons, and the NIT the rest, assuming your OOC schedule isn’t just brutal, which ours rarely has been.
And for heaven’s sake, don’t lose to bloody Montana. Ever. Monson lost to the Griz during his last season, too. (But at least that was a road game.)
everything is history, eventually.
Two things Rich Brooks always said.
1) A coach’s #1 job is to put fannies in the seats.
2) Coach’s are hired for one reason: To be fired.
Ernie is a great guy and did great things. But it was time for him to go.
We are now leaving ATQ. Did you go potty and take your medication?
