Michael Clay is a true Sophomore who was one of only 3 true freshman to experience game action in 2009. He handled snaps for all punting situations for Oregon last year, and along with making plays on special teams accumulated 30 tackles and 1 sack. He was co-leader of the team in tackles versus WSU and had four tackles against UCLA and Arizona. He finished the season with two tackles in the Rose Bowl.
When you look at some of the senior leadership at linebacker, it is good to know that this kid is going to be filling in nicely for them in the near future and should be a very versatile reserve for Oregon this season.

This is the first post in a series I am calling Ducked Up Images, of images that JShufelt has put together. They remind me of posters I used to have on my wall when I was a kid of some of the athletes I admired. I have to say his work is some of the best stuff I have seen on the Ducks.
It was JShufelt’s idea of putting together these images of some of the younger Ducks and I asked him if it would be ok if I ran a profile on each so that we at ATQ could discuss some of the rising stars on the football team. I hope everyone enjoys them.

I honestly expect big things from Clay this season. He played great last season when he was in the game, I am excited to see how he will contribute DOMINATE this season

It amazes me that he was a true freshman, handled all the punt snaps (not too many bad snaps that I remember and he won’t have to do it this year) and was still making plays on D. I think I just figured out why they moved Pleasant to safety… making room for Michael Clay

For those that don’t know (because I had forgotten, and felt like an idiot when I asked) a claymore is a land mine
It is used primarily in ambushes and as an anti-infiltration device against enemy infantry. Sounds about right for Michael.

Thanks guys, it should be illegal how much fun I had working on this.

Hopefully some of the other players can get a little bit more exposure. Clay is a beast.
