Lyle Moevao denied 6th year
I'd like to say I'm happy the Beavs start from scratch next year, but I hope this hard stance doesn't translate to Catron not getting another year of eligibility. Moevao only played one down last year (according to the article, i know I never saw him) and then was out because of injury for the season. Catron played more than that this season, but still nothing substantial. Is the NCAA going to look differently at Catron's petition for another year differently or will they take the hard line similar to Moevao? Anybody know the actual wording of the policy for an extra year?

I highly doubt Catron gets another year, at least I hope. The big difference for Catron though is the fact that he hasn’t taken a redshirt already.
Well Canzano, maybe your parents didn’t believe in you.

My understanding of the redshirt rules
To get your first redshirt season because of injury, you have to have played in fewer than 25% of the team’s games. Catron only played in four, I believe, so he shouldn’t have an issue getting the redshirt.
For a sixth year, you have to have missed two complete seasons due to injury only so redshirting a freshman because he isn’t ready wouldn’t qualify and playing a single down in football or minute in basketball would put the kibosh on that too.

Medical Hardships (Commonly but mistakenly called Medical Redshirts) are granted if you are injured for the season within the first 25% of the team’s games. They typically only are granted if the injury happened DURING the season (So preseason injuries aren’t usually granted).
Medical Hardships are often denied if the player has already had their redshirt season prior to the injury.
