Ducked Up Images: Brandon Bair
Top tackler on the defensive line, eighth on the team in total tackles and second in tackles for a loss, Brandon Bair was a strong force in the middle for the Ducks revamped 3-4 defense this year. He had a career high 10 tackles against Stanford and blocked a punt while being tackled against Utah.
Nose tackles are known more often for things that don't show up in the stats, and that is no different for Bair. He'll probably never live down the hands to the face penalties no matter how many times his big paws create huge stops behind the line or knock down passes. Bair has a thankless, dirty and difficult job of clogging the middle, taking on two 300lb offensive linemen and making sure no running back is able to run it down the gut of the defense. I know this 6-7 270lb "Bear" is going to be ready for the challenge this coming year.

The picture definitely goes with the bias!
He jacked that OSU center pretty good on the TFL though!

I looks forward to big things from Brandon Bair this season.
Hopefully he is working to add some weight. If he can do that, we will be one hell of a player this season.

I think adding weight for him is going to be more difficult. He’s 25 (due to a mormon mission, I believe) and with his height of 6’7" it’s probably going to be tough to go up much more. Personally I like the fact that he is a tough tall guy up front. Makes it harder for QB’s to throw over the middle. We need to make sure we have some tough stout guys on either side of him to help with run protection. Bair should be a force up the middle this year though.

It is great having a tall presence up front. I love to see passes batted down.
But his point of attack is very high due to that height, so It seems to me that it would be advantageous to him if he could add a little weight.
Hands to the face penalties are bullshit.

I give him a lot of credit when he plays the nose
To be as tall as him means he will automatically lose the leverage battle against the OLine but he has a very high motor and he does stay pretty low at the point of attack (which is a relative term when you are 6’7)

Thanks Bill. Shu does a lot of work on these and I’m just happy to put together a little info and video to go along with him. Shu is the master, I’m just trying to enhance the story.

Shu — another great effort.
The W in “Claw” looks more like two conjoined Ys. I was trying to figure out what “Bair ClaYy” meant. For a while I figured I just wasn’t hip to the lingo of Gen Y. Then I realized I’m just slow.
