Quack Fix: Jeremy Jacob for 3, Terrance Jones, Jordon Holmes and Surfing Dogs
No, wait! Doc. Doc. The-the-the bruise - the bruise on your head. I know how that happened! You told me the whole story. You were standing on your toilet, and you were hanging a clock, and you fell, and you hit your head on the sink. And that's when you came up with the idea for the weekend quack fix...
- Softball begins the push to the WCWS in Missouri today, taking on the Tigers at 11:30am PDT. If the Ducks happen to win the series, they would be heading to the World Series for the first time since 1989 and only the second time in the history of the program. An intriguing back story, we have some old friends between the coaching staffs.
- Oregon Track is taking care of business at the NCAA regionals. The Ducks are just trying to get through the meet unscathed but there is big news for fans of Oregon State as WR Jordon Bishop made the last spot for nationals in the high jump.
- Lots of notes regarding the men's basketball team and Dana Altman's approach. The team will be going on a summer tour, most likely to Europe. Jeremy Jacob is discussed, specifically about Altman adjusting his shot to shoot more in the front rather than above his head. Oh, and he's taking more threes. Too many notes to cover in one little paragraph, just read the article.
- Terrence Jones is still in the news. This time, discussions center around the firing of Ernie Kent and former Oregon assistant Yasir Rosemond seems convinced that Jones was coming to Oregon before the firing. Look, I know Jones was a good recruit but making this claims at this stage in the game? Getting touted recruits wasn't the issue and this statement sounds like sour grapes to me.
- There are a few notes on Jordon Holmes.
- For those of you in the San Diego area, you're in for a treat. The Loews Coronado Bay Resort Surf Dog competition at Imperial Beach is finally here to mark the start of dog surfing season. Something tells me that there aren't too many surfing dogs up here in Oregon.
That's it for the quack today. Remember that Baseball and Softball have big games today. Feel free to use this as your open thread and Go Ducks!

Answering a question is sour grapes?
No need to kick Rosemond on his way out. He gave his opinion when asked – nothing more. Jones’ mom said things may very well have turned out differently, if Kent had stayed.

I am happy to take Altman over a Kent/Jones combo.

No need to kick Rosemond on his way out.
I’m not kicking him on his way out. I read it in such a way that he said “Terrence Jones would be coming to Oregon if Ernie Kent didn’t get fired”. From a former assistant, in that context, it sounds like a guy saying “if we didn’t get fired, we would have this guy. Looks like you lose out because we got fired”.
Just the way i read it and it sounds like sour grapes

Autzen Stadium is where great teams go to die." - J. Brady McCullough, The Michigan Daily.
I see it the same way
I also think it’s bull either way. Jones wasn’t coming to Oregon and I’m 95% sure he wasn’t coming if Kent was there. It’s an assistant trying to save face.

Dr. Saturday talked about how eavery potential NC team has some problems; here’s what he had to say about us:
Oregon has to deal with the distractions of a tumultuous offseason, the potentially crippling absence of its star quarterback and its characteristically sketchy defense (by national championship standards) in a conference that goes at least seven deep in plausible, would-be snipers;Nothing new, I know, but consider it conversation fodder or such until softball starts.

somewhat anyway
there’s a point where it becomes redundant. Of course we have QB issues, the extent of which (or lack thereof) we won’t know until august.
Half the wheels, twice the alibi.
Yeah, this was mostly him summing up the series he’s been running on all the contenders, so it’s more or less redundance defined.

Yep. Everyone’s got to say their piece, and Oregon’s issues are so obvious they’ll be repeated, repeatedly. Jeez, that was bad.
What surprises me is that some – not all – of the better writers aren’t making a little more out of just a touch of inexperience at corner, lack of depth and size up the middle on D, and potential special teams issues with the kicking game.
31-6, 45-21, 34-14, 55-34, 44-10, 43-19. Do you see a pattern?
Yep. It's on ESPN right now.

No baseball quack?
Isn’t anyone concerned about the Ducks going 2-5 in their last seven conference games? Having trouble beating other quality Pac-10 teams (Huskies don’t qualify)?
Sure going from 14 wins in year one to a regional qualifier in year two would be huge, no matter what. But no one wants to back in with zero momentum while struggling to score runs against good pitching.

Breaking news, ATQ contributor ntrebon got married yesterday in Hawaii. Congrats to the happy couple!
See now this is more worthy of being in the quack fix than surfing dogs
congrats!

"A 1-2-3 inning and Moore has now retired 4 straight."
Isn’t that the way the bulk of 1-2-3 innings go?

Does she think she’s Vladamir Guerrero or something trying to golf swing on that strikeout? Come on…

This is frustrating as all hell. Can’t Chip figure out some kind of spread option attack for softball? Is it even legal for an Oregon team to get shutout?

just went on a nice walk through campus
been about two years since I had been around campus proper. Lots of new construction since I was a student. The new Ed school and additions to the music school are looking really great, and now it finally looks like they’re remodeling the old Gilbert buildings on either end of Lillis.
And, of course, the new basketball arena is looking phenomenal.
