5 Reasons why Oregon will win the Rose Bowl

Top 5 Reason's the Ducks will win the Rose Bowl

5. Wisconsin's defensive numbers are a bit misleading.

While the Badgers DO have the 6th ranked defense in opponents PPG (17.0), this came from a schedule of weak offenses whose average PPG ranking is a very mediocre 79th.

The team that scored the most on them this year (Michigan State) scored an average of 35 points, while having a solid, but not remarkable PPG ranking of 39th.

Oregon is ranked 3rd.

4. Oregon's front seven have controlled power rushing teams this year.

Stanford has arguably the best offensive line in the country, and Washington had the powerful Chris Polk (1346 rushing yards this season).

Oregon's defensive line contained both attacks.

3. Wisconsin isn't Auburn or LSU.

While many will point to those two games as proof that Oregon's offense can be stopped, in truth, it wasn't.

9 penalties for 95 yards and 4 turnovers, several in their own territory, is why the Ducks lost to LSU, who, was the best team in college football this year.

Cam Newton's Auburn was the best team in college football last year (only beating the Ducks by 3)

Wisconsin simply isn't on that level

2. Wisconsin hasn't seen this kind of offense.

Yes, Wisconsin will have a month to prepare. No, it won't make a difference.

Darron Thomas is great at getting his team up to the ball in a matter of seconds, before making a triple read/pass option against your defense. If he doesn't get you on third down, be prepared, because he will quickly snap the ball and get you on fourth.

With the speed of Barner and James in the back field, and the horizontal and vertical threat of DeAnthony Thomas in the slot, as well as two fast tight ends and tall receivers, all good at blocking down field, it's an offense that just can't be stopped.

1. Wisconsin hasn't seen a defense like this either.

Oregon's offense shouldn't be focused on here; they will score between 35-45 points. It's the Ducks defense that Wisconsin needs to prepare for.

The Front line has speed, yes, but it also has more bulk than previous years. Look for sophomore defensive tackle Ricky Heimuli (6-4, 321 pounds) to stay in the middle and clog up the holes, while all league defensive end Dion Jordan, and a balanced linebacker core bring the heat from all different positions.

Nick Aliotti's blitz packages are as diverse as many NFL teams. You will see lineman dropping back into coverage, and nearly anybody can be sent on a blitz, and that is the biggest reason why they have recorded so many sacks this year.

The Ducks regularly send it fresh players, so ground and pound teams are actually more winded than they are at the end of the first half. They prey on turnover's and sacks, so a sixty yard drive that wasted five minutes of clock can quickly be turned against you. And if you ever get down a couple touchdowns on this group, watch out! They will make you have to play fast, which is, as they say,"Their game."
