Maehl, Free Agents and the Lockout?
So, on this generally Quackless Sunday, I was wondering about the undrafted free agent situation, especially since many of our favorite recent graduates are in this boat. After some checking I found something that confirms that, due to the lockout, UFAs cannot sign with any team.
(Warning: this guys lists 3 WRs in his top 13 UFAs, and none of them are named Maehl. Not exactly sure what he's supposed to do, with the number of guys who have been taken/promoted before him who have not measured or performed better in any category.)
Thoughts? Are this year's UFAs getting screwed, and if so, how bad? It certainly can't help their competition with late-round picks to have no clue which team they are going to be trying to stick with.

Although predictable, this really sucks for Maehl!!!
I just watched the clips of our offense from the 1st half of the USC game and Jeff is the 1 player who really stands out on the field amongst anyone on our offense or USC’s defense. This fact coupled with one of the announcers (I forget which one it was) saying Maehl has, “the best hands in the country” and then seeing him not get drafted (after having well over 100 yds receiving in the national title game) is just absurd.
I’m banking on Seattle picking him up. I could see that happening.
Good luck Jeff

One of the ESPN guys probably got it right:
Rather than waiting for NFL calls, the UFA’s will be working out and exploring options with the UFL and CFL this offseason. I personally still think it’s a lock that Maehl goes to a camp and gets signed. I also think Kenny will get a good look from a team looking at a pass-rushing specialist at LB/DE.
Fuck you, Juju. We'll do it ourselves.
