Quack Fix: Baseball heads to WSU, getting to know Oshay Dunmore
Is this gonna be your last quack fix? Who knows? Not even the joker the thinks the world is gonna end! But just in case, I've tried to make this one extra special.
- ATQ's Kris Anderson has an article at GoDucks.com on the youth of the baseball team. While the season hasn't gone as plan, the Ducks are simply a very young team, and the inconsistency while these players adjust has shown. While it's easy to be disappointed in the results this season, with this youth, there are many reasons to be optimistic about the future.
- Oregon still has some very slim postseason hopes, but to keep those alive they need to win their final 7 games. They head to the Palouse tonight to take on WSU.
- Rob Moseley has a feature on Oregon's first commitment from the 2012 class, Newport's Oshay Dunmore. He'll be competing in a pole vault, long jump, and discuss this weekend at the OSAA Class 4A track and field championships. Dunmore is bringing his athletic talents to Oregon next fall, as well as a love for hitting. But Dunmore is not just a football player that excels in track. He has the talent to excel in either sport, and for now he'll do just that.
- Oregon softball starts the postseason this morning as they take on Albany at 11:30am. The Ducks are in this position in large thanks to Alexa Peterson, who has taken over at catcher and turned a team liability into a strength.
- Oregon golf is trying to reach their fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA championships. Jack Dukeminier is doing his best to make that happen, as he tied a career hi 6-under 66 yesterday at the Southwest regionals.
- Oregon football has had wonderful success in recent years, and it's not just Beaver fans that have taken notice. Mike Riley is paying very close attention to Oregon as well. The rise in Oregon football has brought pressure to both schools, and Mike Riley knows that his team must rise to the occasion, or get left behind.
- Lastly, do you have any questions you want Darron Thomas to answer? Sporting News will be doing a 5 Questions segment with Darron, and wants user-submitted questions. Send any you have to Ryan Fagan, and make sure to mention Addicted To Quack in your e-mail.
Have a great weekend everyone. Leave any other quack below, and GO DUCKS!

Ya'll remember Crespi High, So Cal, birthplace of H Grasu and B Bennett?
Greatwood has his eye on this rhino guard, 325, quick strong, etc. who has been offered by the Ducks (and many others)…be among the very first to see his highlights (and they are impressive) including pancakes, pulling and downfield. I give you Jordan Simmons for free.

He looks very big and strong. But also, holy crap, did anyone see that tailback lower the shoulder on that kid at 1:26?

Hahahahaha… that highlight video actually made me laugh out loud. Everyone he lined up against looked flat out scared, and when he would go to the second level against a linebacker, it’s almost like they decided to lay down instead of getting laid out.
It's spelled "S-H-U-F-E-L-T-R-E-J-E-C-T-E-D"
I agree, cracking up.
I like a couple of those where he’s still blocking a guy10 or more yards downfield, but actually the quarterback or running back has been stopped already because the play wasn’t really set up behind him.
Slow down Jordan! Wait for the running back!

I saw the Big Ten Icon show on Tuesday about Ron Dayne, 278, recruited originally as a discus slinger.
I think you and The Putz are right, give JORDAN the ball. The kid was going into the end zone on one play right behind the RB !!

I really wish that LSU wasnt the first game of the season
because results are always hardest to predict in the first game when players are just getting back into game mode.
More importantly, it makes it damn near impossible to wait another 3.5 months until football season. With our first game of the year being so huge it makes the season all the more eagerly anticipated.
That's what recruiting is for...more eager anticipation...practice practice, practice. Stayin' in shape!

Ducks started the game up 6-3. They lost 12-6. Whoops.
The "Bill Simmons" of ATQ
Started the game 5-0 before TWO meltdowns (instead of our usual one)
Anderson only lasted 4 2/3 innings and gave up EIGHT runs; Moen gave up the other four. Extra base hits, walks, hit-by-pitches and balks were served up by our veteran pitchers tonight.
I just hope they don’t lay down now for the rest of the season with two more against WSU (with whom we are battling for 8th), one at UP, and (gulp) three against the beavs. Things could get . . . I don’t want to go there.
I can happily report that tthe first 16 hours into May 21, 2011, there is no sign of the rapture.
